I was just wondering if anyone knew Larry Edwards he was my father. He drove for Thurston back in the early 70s and reported to this company that the truck he was driving was not safe…( from what I was told ) it was old single cab over with no sleeper . On the trip back from Ohio he got in a truck accident with another 18 wheeler and was killed at the scene left three boys behind. I was Three years old ,oldest brother four years old and my youngest brother one. My mother was 20. We ended up moving into the projects, live their rest of our lives never got any kind of real compensation or apology from this company… but I really would like to find one of these old Thurston trucks. or if anyone knew him, he drove out of Florence South Carolina back in 1973.

Worked the night shift on the loading dock on Hwy 70 in Raleigh the summer of 1967. What a job, 6 pm to 2 am! It was the summer between high school and college and I needed money bad to pay my first semester tuition. As a scrawny 18 year old, I literally had to talk them into hiring me. It was very strenuous work but I stuck it out. Not much of a social life that summer for me…but it all worked out ok!
