Yes we always did on our showagons , that's running 17.5s for rubber , clients were pretty anal about there trailers.

I've done a couple on a few cars and and pick up trucks. Whish I new the ice trick.
To the op. When pulling the new bolt thru use a open ended nut. If you don't and its not straight you'll be mad and still have to buy a new new threaded bolt. -

I'm pretty sure that as long as there's at least 1 thread fully exposed its ok.

And if you look closely, you can sorta see the oil level in the hub just below the half way point. For reference to the speed of the leak, I bought the trailer in Feb and have yet to add any hub oil. -
