Hope you guys are doing good. Still poundin out some miles here. We have a local ultra here at home in October, and I'm officially registered as of yesterday.
Lots of work to put in yet. There's lots of elevation change in the race, so I think most of my miles at home will have to be on trail.
Pretty excited about itFlint1, Concorde, DeereRunner97 and 2 others Thank this. -
Not much outdoor running here these days, was -33 yesterday. I have been averaging about 5 miles a week on the treadmill though.
BrothaTrucka513, Big Road Skateboard, Flint1 and 2 others Thank this. -
Still pounding pavement myself, got 54 miles in last month, with an advantage of 4.2 miles a run. I’m trying to get to 60 miles this month.
Did you sign up for Badwater 100?!
Good on you Big Road, it takes some balls to even sign up for one of those. My goal is a 10k this year and maybe a half by the end of the year.Big Road Skateboard and Oxbow Thank this. -
No Badwater here for sure. The race here is called the Hare Mountain 100. It's on the Ozark Highllands Trail, which is an easy 15 minutes from the house from the west terminus.
I'm not trying the 100 though. They also have a 50 miler and 60k. I won't be able to run for a lot of September, so I'm figuring the 60k will be all I can hope to handle.DeereRunner97 and Oxbow Thank this. -
How is your training going Big Road?
Oxbow Thanks this. -
Sorry I missed your post. But, 13 days to go. Training was going really well till mid August. The shoe brand I had been using for a while, as I got into longer steeper runs, my toes were getting jammed into the end of the shoe.
I had some toenails turn black on a 16 mile run, so I bought the same shoe a half size up. Not sure what was up with it, but I got some crazy blisters with them on the first run.
I was getting roughly 70 miles a week until the end of August. We went on vacation, I let the feet heal a bit, only getting one long run, and the rest of September was crazy busy working, so not near as much running as I needed.
Anyways, I've been picking up the pace here this month. Good runs yesterday and today. I'll try to finish this week strong and probably take it fairly easy next week.
Those black toenails are starting to come off now. I'm hoping they hold on till after the race.
I've got no thoughts of competing against anything but myself and the time limit.
Here's yesterday's and today's

Glad to hear training has been going well. I know how you feel with those toe nails turning black. I’ve had a few of those too. How is the body liking those 70 mile weeks?
What shoes do you run in? I’ve got approximately 1,000 miles on mine and I’m need of a new pair. I plan on going to a running store and getting fitted for a pair when I get back home. Are you using gels?
I signed up for a half marathon in December in South Carolina, I signed up for another half in Ohio in April, I want to do the Detroit Free Press International Marathon, and I want to do the full marathon next winter in South Carolina. That’s my planned schedule for now. Throw in a few little 5k and 10k’s too.BrothaTrucka513 and Big Road Skateboard Thank this.
