Honesty, those 70 mile weeks weren't bad, but I definitely worked up to those #'s. Just a little over 2 years ago was my first mile ever.
I've run in Hoka Clifton's for a road shoe, and Hoka Speedgoats for the trail. Whatever they changed on their newest iteration just aint workin for me.
Using the Saucony Triumph now for a road shoe, and I've still got to find a new trail shoe. I know I'm short on time, but I'll get a few runs in them.
I'll try to keep up with posting my training, so do the same and maybe others will. I've decided this run won't be a one and done for me.
We have another local ultra called the Sylamo 100. It's always in December, and that timing works out way better for me. So I'll be signing up for next years 100 miler when registration opens.
Anybody run?

I’ve heard good things about Saucony as a running shoe. I’ve got Reebok road shoes now, I haven’t done any trail running so I do t have a pair for those. I’ve been looking at Nike road shoes, but I figured I should get fitted first.
I will keep up here, I’m half way through a marathon training plan now. Figured if I could run a full marathon, a half shouldn’t be that bad. I’m glad you plan on continuing to run. I’ve heard people just cross the one off the list and never go back. My brother mentioned to me there’s an ultra that leaves out of Miami and you run all the way to Key West. He’s peaked my interest in that.
Here was Sundays half marathon that was apart of the training plan.

Todays one of those days where everything tells you to quit. It's hard, it hurts, etc.
Well ####, it's always hard you whiney beech. So, we go hard today.
Too fast a pace for me. I couldn't hold it for long. I'm not a fast runner by any means, and this isn't even close to fast for many. For me though, it was a fight.

Well, last week went to hell for running. Finished the week strong with work, but it didn’t leave any time for excercise.
After way too many hours in the saddle, It usually takes two or three days for my legs to recover enough to go for a run.
New trail shoes got here Saturday, so I knocked out a mile then, and ran the lake trail here at home this morning.
Gonna get one more decent run in before I toe the line Saturday, then take it easy and spend a few days hunting.

How are you liking those new shoes? I had a two hour run scheduled on the training plan for Sunday, but the weather was super windy and rain, so I decided to watch football. Are you feeling good about Saturdays race? Are you going to get back to the house on Wednesday or Thursday so you have time to shake out your legs?
Oxbow Thanks this. -
The road shoes are awesome for me. Everybody's feet are different, but they are by far the most comfortable shoes I've worn for running.
Still not sure about this new trail shoe. It's the Saucony Xodus Ultra 4? IIRC. Trail shoes aren't as plush, and I don't have many miles in them yet, so I'm not sure yet. I'll be wearing them Saturday though.
I feel pretty good about the race, but like I said, my goal is to beat the clock, nothing else. I got home late Friday and ain't going back out for a few week I think, so my legs should be ready. Gonna try to eat and sleep good, and get a few miles a day in the mountains until Saturday.
The race director says near 10k feet of elevation gain, but my map shows less than 7k'. Well see what it is afterwards I guess. Here's the profile

If you do it again next year, let me know because I think it would be fun to meet up and run with ya.
There’s some serious elevation gains. Trail running is a whole different ball game than road running. I keep thinking about running trails, but I let my mind talk me out of it.Big Road Skateboard and Oxbow Thank this. -
Pretty consistent pace on these last two.Big Road Skateboard Thanks this.

Went out for a hunt yesterday afternoon. I'll call it training cause it was a slog, and I had 40lbs in the pack.
I know we don't have the high mountains of the west, but we can do steep.
Oxbow and DeereRunner97 Thank this.
