We've had 24 hours of straight rain. 2+ inches, and looks like it'll continue. Gonna be a sufferfest.

Have fun Skateboard! I hope it goes well for you, or as well as it could. It’s just you verse that clock.
This week has been hard to find time to get the runs in. I got a 15.5 mile run planned tomorrow.Big Road Skateboard and Oxbow Thank this. -
Well, it didn’t go as well as I had hoped, but I gave it everything I had. I thought there was a chance I could make the cutoff, but mile 37 my legs just gave up.
Conditions didn’t help, but that's no excuse. Here's how it played out

That's an incredible amount of data to analyze.
I'm not a runner, but I enjoy watching your efforts.Big Road Skateboard, wore out and DeereRunner97 Thank this. -
Is it what you thought it would be? You still showed up to that starting line which is better than what a lot of people did yesterday. How was the course? Are you going to do it again next year? How does your body feel today? Did weather also impact you?Big Road Skateboard and Oxbow Thank this.

Today was long run Sunday. It was supposed to be 15.5 miles, but the climb up the final hill cramped me up, so I just stopped. I would say about half of those miles are trail miles. I’ve never trail ran, so that was a little learning curve. All in all, I’m not too upset with the results.

It actually surprised me how hard it felt. I didn't expect easy, and if it was I wouldn't want it, but I've put in a ton of training, and the trail still made me it's b!!ch.
This course, it's pretty rough. I don’t know if you've spent any time in the Ozarks, but the west side over here can be pretty hairy. It's not a well manicured trail by any means. It's steep and rocky, with lots of areas you just cannot run. In the last 4 miles where I really slowed down, it's more technical climbing than even hiking. The worst part of the whole trail was that section.
I am doing it again, but will train quite a bit different.
It's still hard to move. Calves, quads, lower back, and for some reason shoulders. They're all toast
The weather definitely impacted me. Wet all day, and cold and wet later in the day. Moving over the technical stuff was slower because the rocks of course were slippery. One positive, even with wet feet and wet socks, my feet did well. They hurt like hell, but no blisters, no rubbing, etc. Had the same wet socks on all day with no issues.
Race results came out last night. While I didn't finish in the 12hr cut, I still took 3rd place in the 60k. More by default than anything. I assumed they were starting us in groups of 5. There were only 5 in my group.
Well, all the other 60k runners dropped from the race due to weather, so us 5 were all that were left. 2 did not finish and left at the 22 mile marker.
The 2 ahead of me were a 28yo and 41yo.DeereRunner97 and Oxbow Thank this. -
I’ve haven’t really spent too much time in the Ozarks, but I’ve heard about them and the terrain. When you trained, was it mostly road running? I assume you would probably run that trail in preparation for next year? After yesterday’s little trail running, it genuinely peaked my interest in that style of racing.
At least you didn’t drop out like the others did. It’s going to sound really weird, but if you buy a foam roller, that will help the muscles. I try to foam roller once a day for about 5-10 minutes. Helps my legs out I feel like.
How did you feel those trail shoes held up?Big Road Skateboard and Oxbow Thank this.
