I will idle once it gets super cold. Like down in the single digits. Mainly just because I don’t want a dead battery in the morning. I have a bunk heater that warms the cab.
Anybody use a predator 2000 + small AC unit?

I idled at anything below 20*. Most of the time. The heater didn't last long.
And if you fuel in the south. You better fuel up again in the north. Or you'll be waiting inline for a mechanic. The south doesn't treat their fuel for the north.
Don't think anyone has heard of a cracked block.wifi_guru and ElmerFudpucker Thank this. -
I usually don’t idle if it’s above 0, another hood use for the gen is plugging the block heater and a battery tender in while you run the espar,
I’d like to go to a 3500 but the 2000 does fine, just can’t use the microwave while the ac is on, if I were to need any more I would probably look for a wrecked RV to rob the generator out of and just run it off the main fuel tank, then you don’t have to even worry about gasElmerFudpucker, wifi_guru and 77fib77 Thank this. -
Don't know if this is true or false since I don't own one.
5 Reported Problems With Harbor Freight's Predator 3500 Generator - SlashGear -
I have a 3,500 AND a 2,000
This is true, false and misleading
I'll go down the list
#1 "Generator either starts up and idles down or won't start at all". ever had trouble starting a lawnmower...? Never start it with a load on it (something plugged in) it can couse it to sputter and die. Never start it with the eco turned on. It may not start. It said so in the manual.
#2 "Defective carbon monoxide sensor keeps the generator from activating" yes this may happen just like a defective oil sensor will keep it from running. All you have to do is walk it onto any harbor freight as long as you paid for the 1-2 year extend warranty and you'll walk out the door with a new one in the box us under 1 hr.
$3 "Generator overheats easily, reducing load capacity" this in not uncommon with portable generators. Enclose super quiet generator are more prone to it because they are enclosed and have less airflow. You can always get a noisyopen frame.
#4" Generator can't operate at high altitudes without additional modification" I would like to know what hight altitudesthey are talking about..? Denver, CO. at 5,280 ft...? Mine runs just fine in Flagstaff, AZ. at 7,000 ft without using the provided high altitude kit.
#5 "Generator leaks oil or gasoline, coats spark plug" they will leak gas IF you over full the gas tank (above the full mark) becauseof the tanks internal vent. If it leaks oil take it back for a free replacement..
Their is really nothong about the complaints that are any different from other brands and this is from people using them on CAMPING trips not used almost everyday. My 3,500 has about 1,500 hours on it and I've never use the pull start.
