Predator 5000.
I have the pulsar 7250. Cost the same as the predator. Both are $250 cheaper. -
The problem with portables is they draw more power than regular window units. The one hose units are a waste of money. Need 2 hoses. Another problem is leaking condensation. The auto evap system that sprays it onto the condenser doesn’t work well. A 2000 will barely run an 8000 btu portable unit. Occasionally May stall it out. That’s my short lived experience. I suggest a window unit. Works better, more efficiently, and a lot cheaper. Smallest most efficient available. 5000 btu, maybe up to 7000. Compare the rated amps. Some units are more efficient than others.

I paid $500 for my pulsar 4000. It's smaller, weighs less. Same tank capacity almost. And has rv hookup.
My pulsar 7250 was $1000. Same size but weighs less then the predator 5000.
With all the options out there now.
I can't even give my ryobi away. And I paid good money for it 4 years ago. It's more expensive now.Last edited: Jun 9, 2024

I will say....you get what you pay for.
Get online and READ the warranty..!!! All of it. You may find things that make you say WTF.
Some with the Pulsar 4,000 warranty is 3 years LIMITED. last 2 years is parts only. 1st year parts and labor. You must find a authorized repair shop to get it fixed or send it back on your dime to have it repaired (up to 30 days). Do you really want to not have it a month while you wait for it to get fixed.? The warranty is 3 years OR 500 hours... 500 hours this time of year is 8-9 weeks..!
After 21 months I just had to replace my predator 2,000.. it went out of 21:00 Wednesday night is I idled all night next morning I bobtailed to harbor freight el paso, pulled into that parking lot went inside got a cart, went back and load the generator in the cart, took it inside, they verified my warranty (no receipt needed they use your phone number) 20min later I walked out with a NEW one in the box, put it on the truck and thru way the box. all in under 1hr.. all i had the pay was $139 for a new 2 year warranty on the new generator... total time without a generator on the truck = 14ish hr. If it had gone out 2hrs earlier I'd would have had it changed the same day.
Read the RUNNING wattage not the starring wattage. Starting wattage is only for 3-5 sec. a 4,000 (starting) is around 3,200 running, 59% load is 1,600 watts abd a 25% load is 800 watts.
most generators list rin time at 25% load others list at 50% load. You need to understand that...
How much wattage dies your ac need...? It Starting and running watts. my predator 2,000 max running is 1,600 watts, 50% is 800 watts, 25% is 400 watts. My ac is 800 watts starting (when the compresser starts) and 450 running. So depending on how hot it is will determined just how long it will run and a tank.. I can tell you that with the eco turned on (engine runs a lower speed if the power requirements are low enough) that I was comfy for 8 1/2 -9 hours in 105° per tank full (1gl) last week in El Paso.
My 2,000 runs everything I need in this truck I just need to turn off the ac while I use the mirco then turn it back on. If I really needed more power I'd pull the 3,500 off my other truck. Yes I have 2 trucks this truck I run solo has a 2,000 and the other truck I run team has a 3,500.
Do you own research..Find what you think will work best for YOU...!! Some like 1 Brand over another. What I like or dislike or what someone else like is dislike is as always THEIR OPINION..it's your money spend it wisely..
After thought and just for the record propane is hands down the most expensive way to run a portable generator. It a nice option but 1 i wouldn't use it.. A portable GAS generator will use 1-2 gl. for a 10hr break (depending on model) = $3-$7 per 10hr break.. running on propane a 10 hr break will use 1 20lb bottle = $25 about the same fuel cost as running the truck.Last edited: Jun 9, 2024

I do know they had a ton of trouble out of the 5,000 when they 1st came out to the point they stopped selling them for about 2 months to fix issues..
