The idea is to save money. Have to look at the cost to operate the generator itself. I think you have to get at least a 5000w Predator to get the remote start. That’s the only reason I considered it. Otherwise it burns twice as much gasoline. Somewhere there’s a good compromise of convenience and efficiency. The other consideration is cost. These cheap generators don’t last long. The suggested oil change intervals are very often. Another pita. No doubt to be neglected. The cost to replace is important. The less cost, the easier to replace. No need for overkill. Defeats the whole purpose. Best set up is a cheap mini split, maybe $500. Comes with flexible lines. Available on Amazon. Coupled with a cheap generator, add a larger or a second fuel tank, mounted in an inconspicuous location, as there’s limits on the amount of gasoline carried. Search this forum. “Mini Split” there’s some great economical tried and proven set ups that others have already figured out. Can’t remember who it is, but there’s one clear winner. He’s got the perfect mini split set up.

I'm going with my eu3200i and a window unit with knobs and no computer since some of these electronics don't play nice with inverters sometimes. adding an extended run fuel tank to go for a full 10 hours
. i want something smaller and manageable. i want something i know i can abuse and beat the crap out of it and it will keep running
because i know that's what's going to happen with all of the hours i'll put on it!!! the 3200i is made in japan and not china also.
Vitkouski Thanks this. -
Is there something cheap cuz all I see is $2800.
wifi_guru Thanks this. -
Changing the oil requires a 20oz soda bottle and 2 zip ties
My 3,500 has almost 4,000 hrs on it
My predator cost $800 and I added a remote start for $150 -
Why are you guys running such big gennies. My 2,000 craftsman/generac (1800 continuous) has been running for 3 summers so far. It runs a 10,000 btu ge inverter window unit. It will freeze you out and will run 10 hours on 0.8 gallons of gas. I do wish I had a remote start like a 3500 watt. But I don’t know why you would carry anything bigger than you have to.

I have the Generatorupgradesupply.com remote start kit and its awesome.
I have no idea what some of y'all are doing to cause your generators to run out of gas in less than 10hrs though. My 3500 will run a solid 20hrs on 2gal with my ac cranked up so it barely cycles off.77fib77, flood, Vitkouski and 1 other person Thank this. -
77fib77 Thanks this.

2. It was actually louder than my 3500 because instead of running at 1/4 load, it was running at more than 50% load.77fib77, Vitkouski, flood and 1 other person Thank this. -
77fib77 and ElmerFudpucker Thank this.

does anyone without an apu just idle in winter to keep the engine warm to prevent things like hard starts and engine cracking?
ElmerFudpucker Thanks this.
