The cabs are basically the same so the cowl shape would be the same. Meaning the back of the FLD hood should fit the front of the cab ok. I would use a FLD frame and put the classic cab/sleeper on it. The cab mounts should be the same and in the proper position to move the cab forward. One issue is going to be the back of the front fenders clearing the lower cab corners. You'll have to do some carefull measuring there. The firewall will have to be checked to ensure there's enough clearance for the back of the engine. It would be a big job but not impossible. I'd find a wrecking yard with both types of trucks in there and do some measuring. Good luck.

I have always thought it weird that you like FLD's so much. I have had 2 of them and I hated them both.

I'm thinking it's going to be more of a nightmare then a dream truck.
    But that's just my opinion.

that what i was gonna say buy all your parts from the boneyard or post a ad on craiglist looking for a wrecked trucks, i'm thinking if you dont have the skills too repair basic fiberglass then isnt a job too tackle, i always thought this too, i would like too make my own truck too, but cost wise , nope x 2 trucks, and mind would have suiced doorss that opean from the front, a hydalic sleeper, meaning going down the road be a flat top, then aat truckstop raise by hydralices too full height, but at least i can dream big and its free, i like the look of that new freightliner , looks mean and lean too me , but that just me

The cabs are the same, so just swap your cab with the 84" cab and strech the frame if you want. Otherwise, I'd say eliminate the breathers and side stacks, Classics came without them if you ordered them that way. You're not going to put a set back hood (FLD) on a set forward chassis (Classic) and make it look good without spending a crapload on reengineering the steering, which would be dumb$$$$$.
