If you are involved in accident the lawyers will get your work activity from Uber/lyft and use them to show whatever it shows. You don't control the info they will use to punish you. It's 2023 not 1973

I drove for Lyft for a month or so when I was between jobs. There’s no way I’d want to do it now, particularly during my 34 (even if it was legal). Life is way too short, and besides, the money wasn’t enough to compensate for my time.

I drove Uber for a while. It had its moments. Chatted with an old timer who cured some kind of cancer. Lots of interesting convos once you break the ice. Learned quickly to not drive at night and never had any pukers in the vehicle. Some very close calls tho. I live near 3 major universities tho so there was usually decent money to be made during the day.

You have to learn to cancel at the first sign of a problem. Just drive off and cancel a few blocks away. It’s a lot like trucking really. Don’t drive far for a pickup or you’ll feel like you have to take the load or err passenger. There was a good website or forum where Uber drivers talk. I’ll try and find it. US Cities
