Get out and walk you need to make your body tired. half to one hr a day. This will really get rid of stress. While giving you time to think about the same things you would while lying in the bunk. Just keep circling the truck stop or rest area for a set time. It actually feels great once your done.

Pop a melatonin 30 mins before you want to sleep. It's non habit forming and you won't wake up groggy like you would with sleeping pills.

Okay, here goes...
I've had the hyper brain thing for a long time, enough so that it eventually affected my ability to drive safely. There's a lot of things that should and shouldn't be done, sometimes depending on the individual.
One thing I was told was to stay away from TV and computer screens, they actually act as stimulus to your brain, keeping you awake (I know, some people it works for them. Like I said, eveyone is not the same.).
Reading may be a good alternative, I know my eyes get pretty heavy sometimes after just a page or two if I'm tired enough.).
It could be that outside noises are also a distraction? In that case, maybe earplugs (I can't stand'em), or another alternative that works for me, especially when I'm home and my two boys are going at it all day long. Get a good quality speaker, or plug your phone or laptop into your stereo if you can, and try this at just enough volume to drown out everything:
As far as great covers, try this:
