Hi striker, on a recent visit to Colorado, I saw that prison in Canon City. Huge place, and there was another in Salida/Buena Vista area. I guess it employs half the county. It got me thinking, here I'm trying to get out there, legal-like, and these people are committing crimes, and getting put in one of the most beautiful parts of the country. What kind of deterrent is that? Stick 'em in one of those prison's in Peru. See how many crimes people commit then!![]()
anyone ever deliver to a prison ?

I delivered to Coleman in Florida last summer..
I went to basically a small industrial park complex for the prison.......All low risk low security no issues everyone was fine....I wondered if I would get some static from inmates but they were model citizens..

I picked up a load of gold sheets once, they had more security than these prisons, haha.
Even had an escort of three vehicles for 300 miles. -
We had to pick up some gold components from a power plant retooling in Florida. No escort whatsoever. No route plan. We were just told high value and straight through to our delivery. We found out it was gold when we got there and they checked the crates.

I delivered to a zoo.....wasn't easy to convince them to let me back out.....not trying a prison.
Infosaur and Criminey Jade Thank this. -
Yeah, would love to get my hands on one with a real "giggle switch"
The dudes (at least back then-probably just rent-a-cops now....) sporting them were some serious-looking operator types.....All black tac gear, minimal insignias, and eyes that just burned a hole thru you when they looked at you.....rocknroll81 Thanks this. -
I just loaded there in Mound House a week ago. It had rained a bit so the pad was slick as heck. I loaded and was about 800 lbs under what I was supposed to load but I'd rather have the rate cut than drag a loaded trailer back up that hill. I'm not sure id go back because I'm still trying to get gypsum out of my reefer. Quick unload though, took all of 10 minutes and they gave me a ticket for a free washout!

We pick up furniture at Coleman,
and deliver it to the pentagon.Tall Mike Thanks this. -
Delivered to a correctional facility in Florida. Was minimum security, work camps outside the general pop area but within the fences. Was wide open, just drove on through the gate and past the guard towers without so much as getting a second glance. I was expecting at least to get a quick visual search entering/leaving, but never even interacted with any guards. The inmates did the offloading which was nice. I promised next time I would bring them cigarettes.

In the late 80's, early 90's I worked for a private security company that also did Nuke plants in a couple of states. I worked for the commercial property side. I was given the chance to interview for and oversee what the training was like on the nuke side. All the guards were trained .45, 9mm, AR-15/M-16, some were sniper trained with .308 or 30.06, had to qualify twice a year. Standard issue for exterior posts was 9mm and AR-15. Supervisors were also trained on MP-5 and AK47. Desk guards had .45 on hip, either AR or Winchester pump in locked rack beside the desk. Training was 12 weeks, I politely declined as I didn't want to relocate.Mudguppy Thanks this.
