Our dispatcher actually drove for Dunkin Donuts as well, for about 5 years. The other, drove for them about 12 years, and he was the one I got the information from, and he mentioned that they tried to unionize at one point, but failed, so whether changes were made as a result, he doesn't know. Other things he mentioned were, majority of the routes are 5 day work week, home every night, but they are pretty strict on giving out OT, that's why your not gonna see your typical 14-16 hour days with this job, like some other foodservice jobs. They actually time you at each of your stops on your probation, because they don't want you to lollygag, since your paid hourly, with some type of tracking device in the truck. Whether they have cameras, he doesn't know that. They also have 4 day runs were your out 2 days at a time, and do backhauls, but as far as foodservice jobs is concerned, he mentioned it's pretty easy work, compared to others. Job pays good, and benefits are excellant.

Much appreciated for the info. At 21.25 per hour with a raise after 90 days (do you know roughly how much the raise is?) i'll be cool with 45-55hrs a week and working 9-10hr days will make the commute more tolerable

I'll have to ask him about that if I get anouther chance. All he mentioned was that after your 90 day probation, you move up to top rate, so you'll be making as much as the senior driver. Only thing mentioned was that raises was about 5% of your hourly top rate.

Ok thanks, I haven't heard back from Dunkin yet but I spoke with a recruiter from Core-Mark and she said I fit the bill since I already have food experience. Dragging around a pup instead of a 48, home every day. If they're gonna hire me on the spot I think im gonna go there. I'm thinking they might of filled the position at Dunkin already

Yeah but dragging a pup doesn't mean it's gonna be any easier, because you know their gonna fill in every square inch of the trailer.

Whatever you decide to go with, I wish you the best of luck on either job.

    A friend
worked for an outfit called Aldworth trucking back in the late 80's doing Duncan Donuts. Many of the stores were owned by cranky middle easterners. IIRC he had to load the shelves.

One outfit in the foods that might not pay good is PFG.

Sorry to hear you didn't get the DD job.

Are you against crossing over to NY? From what I've seen, Binghamton seems to have some good opportunities as well. Maines Foodservice is hiring. So is UPS Freight, and Balford Farms. Maybe check them out as well.
