If you work that hard, then there isn't much energy left for anything at home. You could get a much better "hourly" pay (wage divided by hours worked) in a regional job. Work less hours, no physical work and at least have weekends.
Anyone ever drive for Dunkin Donut's?

Intermodal and Railroad is not to busy right now. I had an Intermodal driver two weeks ago walk up to me where I get fuel on Monday and ask if we were hiring at GFS. We've had two guys come over from Norfolk Southern to work for GFS said NS laid off a bunch of train and engine crew people because coal is way down and Intermodal is slow and there really not running a ton of trains right now. However JB Hunts pretty big player in that game I'm sure they will keep you busy now if you were owner operator leased on to some Intermodal dispatch that's a little different.
What would be curious to see is how many engines they parked at the engine hubs. Or as they call it moving into storage.Sho Nuff Thanks this. -
Whatever you do don't work for jb hunt, I was an intermodal driver and fleet manager there. Night and day to food service, you'll get paid crap and do a lot of free work. You can make literally double working food service and the benefits at jb suck! I was paying $120 just for myself, I pay $18 now (in food service) and way better benefits.
Right now is the time of year food service is hiring like crazy so you'll get in somewhere, good luckSho Nuff Thanks this. -
Jb hunt and outfits like them are a vile threat to the industry. They subcontracted from mbm and do jack in the box in my area. The drivers I talked with who were part of the jack in the box fleet took a 40 percent pay cut when jb hunt took over.
During our management meetings at jb hunt, they would brag how their business model is to undercut the industry and ruin good paying jobs.
We will never organize as truckers since it's a only about me attitude in this industry but the 2nd best thing to do is never work for jb #### -
Intermodel is DEAD right now, even for the O/O's. I pass railyards all over Jersey and PA and it's completely MT. I don't see ANY Jb drivers going into the railyards NOW.
Their was even this thread recently of an O/O intermodel driver looking for work because the railyards are dead.....

Trust me I know, grew up around a bunch of o/o. Jb would be a last ditch effort. I would go to Maines but they really don't pay better than the food service company I worked for. Willow Run if you wanna know
