A Farm I worked at, and still work at with my wife when I’m home, has a dairy herd of mostly Ayrshires with a few Holsteins. The ayeshires do better on pasture but the Holsteins are still healthy when they’re on pasture. Dry cows and heifers don’t get grain when they are out to pasture.
Anyone ever lose weight while being OTR?

Staying healthy is mainly about will power. There are so many way to become healthy or stay healthy but can u be consistent with your routine is key. For me, eating healthy and drinking alot of water is already hard but I will have this mind set that if I stick to it ,it's not only benefit my body but also my mental health. I cannot stretch enough about stress and depression. They are your biggest enemy in this industry.
Paddlewagon, driverdriver and Camelclutch Thank this. -
There seems to be a common misunderstanding of what carbohydrates are. Here you go:
Carbohydrate - Wikipedia
Sugars are the building blocks of carbohydrates. Yes momma, you need carbohydrates (sugars).
ALL plant based fibers ARE carbohydrates.
Your gut microbiome MUST have long chain carbohydrates to be healthy.
Carbohydrates are NOT only contained in grains (that was a bit of a shock to me when I learned this fun fact a few years ago). The best sources of long chain carbohydrates are in vitamin and nutrient rich raw fruits and vegetables. Raw, because cooking starts breaking down the long chain fibers into simple sugars.Slim51 Thanks this. -
The long chain fibers also help you burn more calories as your digestive system has to work harder to process them as part of the metabolism process

Or maybe that should be omfg!!! lmao.
You need to go see a nutritionists or your doctor and have test done to figure out what diet will work for 'you'.
One diet will make ' you ' loose weight and another will gain weight.
You could also end up with some very unhealthy consequences. -

as for stblueberry (my g/f) mentioned above, she is right about the routine & consistency. We use Meal Replacement from Garden Of Life (RAW Organic Meal Shake & Meal Replacement | Garden of Life) for breakfast and lunch to stay healthy. It has enough protein and other goodness to keep you full, plus all organic and vegan. It has many flavors and in my opinion taste better than those workout powders. If you buy it in bulk (8 or 12) on ebay, it is about 33 dollars each and it should have about 28 scoops each equal to about 14 meals (2 scoops per meal) so it is not that expensive to be healthy. On top of that, try to snack in between with mixed nuts, jerky, fresh fruits, or even trail mix bars...of course a lot of water (mix it with natural flavors if plain water is hard for you to drink)

I didn't realize trucking circles were home to so many certified nutritionists and MD's. Who'd have known to look around?
I wish I had $100 for every "nutrition fact" that came down the pike in the past 40 years only to be reversed at a later point. Cheese is bad for you. Cheese is good for you. Cheese is bad for you. And the same flip flopping on countless other foods we've been eating since the beginning. If I like it. I'm eating it. I'm not listening to people trying to sell books, "special foods", or another snake oil.
They're making up names for crap today just to have another snake oil to sell to the naive masses.
The "Nutrition Industry" is perhaps worse than the pharmaceutical industry in creating answers for problems that don't exist except in some people's minds.Last edited: Jun 15, 2018
