Their website is good at selling their service but I haven’t seen any reviews of their dispatching service. Can anyone here give some feedback if you’ve used them or currently use them?

I’m getting closer by the week just trying to get a feeler if dispatching services keep you busy or self dispatching is the way to go?

    Thanks

And if you selfdispatch, how many load boards do you use?

Starting out a dispatch service can be invaluable. Depending on their knowledge and the brokers that they work with. I am not familiar with the group you are referring to they could be great. Even if they are starting out you could learn a lot. As far as looking for your own freight starting out could be challenging in so far as where and when you want to go. Example you see something paying a good rate to NYC. If you have never looked for freight out of the area you do not know what to expect. Since the area does not make things, the opportunity to get thinks is greatly reduced. Now brokers and shippers know this also and price accordingly. Since you cannot compete with a big truck you can’t just sit and wait as the truck stops are few and far between. So you better get enough from jump street to deadhead out of the area to remain profitable. There are other parts of the country that have similar situations. What part of the country are you based out of?

Hey good info man, I’m down in Houston.

Starting out I was planning to self dispatch. I’m not concerned with where I go or being OTR, just need to start out right

My background is in car dealerships, sales and service. Have never hauled anything besides motorcycles, jet ski, and trailer for general purposes

Obviously you got your CDL with your set up (over 26k combined gvwr).

Being a person just looking into this myself, and realizing it's best to get the CDL, can you elaborate on how you went about doing that? I have zero experience in trucking except I drove a company van for 16 years and random trailers here and there.

Did you take training courses...most of which seem to be taught with semi's...or did you just practice with a trailer by yourself then take the test?

Appreciate your threads, and the details you've given.
