Anyone have any Feedback on Smithway

do they hire pple that just gets out of cdl classes??

 

They hire students but are real strick on who an what schools they accept.

 

well, overall not a bad company if you don't need to run like a rented mule. they tellk you average 2500 miles, but it is actually 2100 on the good weeks.

miles were ok before christmas but after they went down to 1000- 1500 a week and you always sit for the weekend with no load and you will not get a load till late afternoon monday get used to running the northeast

 

i can see nothing has changed since i left them.they will lie and jerk you around..

 

Not a good choice if you ask me. I have worked there for almost a year. You have to make your own evaluation but I would not recommend them to anyone.

 

I have been working here for four years. Hell, I have even leased purchased a truck from them (almost paid for too, WOO HOO). This used to be a company I would stand by and was proud to work for. Now most of the people working here are just trying to cover their #$$ and kept their heads down around Western so that they can keep their jobs. And I really can't blame them. Especially with the job market the way it is right now.

I WOULD NOT recommend anyone coming to work here. I am looking at leaving as soon as the truck is paid for which should be in about 2 months. It really pisses me off the way Western has run this company into the ground. I only hope is that I can find a new company that is as good as this one used to be.

 

What he ^ said. I currently work for Smithway but, not for much longer. I too have seen the same behavior from them and it has become overwhelming.

 

Today when I called one of our terminals to see about a load the woman who answered the phone said Western, not Smithway. Also as of July 1st they have changed the way we submit paperwork, etc. I have also been told all employee files from SMX are being transfered to Nashville and that our paychecks are now paid out of Western's bank. Looks like the sun has finally set on what was a great company.
