Hey Viking84, I see you're in Valdosta! I'm in Albany and just finished the CDL program at Albany Tech. I retired from the Navy recently and looking at Roehl to get started. What would it be like for me if I wanted to be still in the area as a DV/FB driver? I don't need a lot of home time but I do have a pet and would like to take her with me. (20lb Shiba Inu). Plan to call Recruiter tomorrow but if it's anything like the other companies, I dont expect to get answers until after I apply. I don't like that they want my info first lol!

ROEHL does not allow pets in the truck period.
But you should be able to get on as either Flat or van out of Albany. ROEHL also has a pretty good military program for military vets. I am retired Army (24 years) and took advantage of it when I got hired on.
Talk to one of the recruiters and they can fill you in. The honesty of the ROEHL recruiters is a very strong point with the company. They will give you straight answers and will not BS you like a lot of companies.

Yes, I spoke with them yesterday. I liked everything but the no pet policy. I have a tough choice to make.

Hey y'all, hope you're doin well. Does anyone know anything about the VA Apprentice program? Can I use it after I'm happy being with the company? I don't want to utilize my GI Bill and get in a jam or find a better fit (my heart lies with Tanks) and have to pay that money back and lose the time for further education. Basically I am risking losing a lot of education money if I don't work with Roehl for two years come hell or high water. Just covering my bases. The VA guy comes off as a little pushy. They obviously know they'll have me by the b**ls if I jump right into it. I chose Roehl over Maverick do to what I have found online and equipment (not a fan of automated autos). I've grown up in semis and have driven for farms and such. Just now venturing to CDL and OTR due to lack of jobs and career paths in the civilian world. Thanks ahead of time.

I've been with them nearly two years. I'm a l/o now and am very happy. They have several options for home time. I can't comment on pay. That's a question for a recruiter.

    Hi all,
I just got scheduled for orientation in Wisconsin on November 17th. I live in Florida. If I want, I can still change my mind and go to orientation in Ellenwood, Ga. I'm just curious if it would be any easier when I come back from the couple days at home, AFTER orientation and the on the road training, when I get my truck, to go to Ellenwood, because i would have a car rental vs. plane ticket, so i could bring more things that I might need in my own truck, for example, cooler, or microwave. Or should I just get those things at a truck stop once I'm in my own truck?

How is the Christiansburg, VA area for the flatbed division? I will also be using my GI Bill benefits to do the apprenticeship program (13 years Active Duty Army). How are the Prostar's that are equipped with the Maxxforce? I know the Maxxforce engine has a bunch of issues, just want to know what I could be potentially getting myself into.
