Meh, I found a review saying it's better than dial-up but basically crap. Unusable for gaming/streaming video which is the only reason to go unlimited and any cell phone plan will let you web browse for much cheaper.

Really? I would like to see such an animal. You have an unlimited mobile data device with an auto-position satellite through DirecTV?

Please post a link to this? A name of the device? Anything that can shed some light?

    Thanks in advance.

    Vilhiem Thanks this.

Kinda kept my mouth shut...I wasn't even aware anyone did a package like that with that type of setup in a truck. Much less directv. Satellite TV? Sure. Satellite internet? ...I'll keep my options open. I know what my foot tastes like.

That's because they don't for under $3000. There are military grade and commercial news van types of stuff for satellite internet. But the size of the equipment and cost is not practical for a personal user. The cellular companies have a massive head start on mobile internet and probably will not be caught any time soon. But since he mentioned that he had a DirecTV branded system "all-in-one" this type of thing is something that I would get and test for the community. But alas...

If there was an unlimited Satellite internet that was even remotely affordable, I for one would be all over something like that and I would be the first one to spread the news about it. I can eat up some crazy amount of bandwidth. At home, I use terabytes per month. I watch netflix on low settings and still eat 25 - 30gb. Between torrents and videos I could easily eat up 100's of MB per month while out on the road. My computer is on at home right now as a seed box. Shhhh,... :)

Sadly,.. no such animal exists for satellite. Not sure if their network just isnt capable of supplying that much for everyone,.. or if its just too costly to offer.

If mobile satellite TV and unlimited internet cost the same as what I have at home and the service was similar,.. I would happily sign up.

Well I don't know everything, but I wasn't sure if you were calling him out on it or were curious. I would've loved to see a setup like that. Progression of tech is facinating to me.

Im like you though, felt if there was anything available to the general public that it'd be clunky and expensive.

If it costs four arms and eight legs...it isn't available to the public. :yes2557:

Me too. I burn between 100 and 200 gig a month depending on how busy freight is...I couldn't imagine having a limited plan.
