Thinking about rigging one of my trucks with a pump but would like to hear some real world numbers on revenue to see if it makes any sense.

I would say just do it and you will be pleasantly suprised if you do...just stay away from Gibsons. I am looking to rig up a 2nd truck and wondering if I buy a truck with a wet kit already on it if that would be cheaper then going old skool like I have now with direct drive PTO?

Hey there. I called and spoke with Mike. He told us that we would get an estimate faxed to us. I've got another Peterbilt that i'm supposed to have coming in.
    Thanks for the information.

I would check into any truck equipped with a wet kit, I was told by a rig up shop that buying a truck equipped with a wet kit to run a dump, that they will need to modify the kit etc, and that in the end it might be better to go with a new rig up, than try to re-use parts. They said they can make it 'work' but it will not be as efficient, either the pump won't turn as fast as needed, so a longer load/unload time, or it will heat up, and cause pump failure. Definately worth looking into, no point paying someone else an extra 5k for a truck, only to have the pump shop tear it off, and put it in a pile and lay out another 15k for new parts.

Depending on what your used to, it can seem high, however, like I always say, "Big in, big out", make more, but more wear and tear on trucks, pump repairs etc. I know the bigger outfits, Gibsons, Plains are slow now and not generally hiring at least from what I've heard. Pros and cons with the big outfits/small outfits.
Some of the happiest owner ops work for the 1-30 trailer guys, seem a bit more connected with the field, more hands on. Good way to get the foot in the door, home nightly etc.

I interviewed with a smaller fleet 2 years ago when I got the run around, and had the work come thru for them, I would have been pulling their trailers.
Less insurance costs, less administration fees, being able to pick up the phone and talk to the guy who actually signs the cheque, not an answering machine AND in house mechanic, company POs if you need... tons of pluses.. and not many negatives that I could find.

If it was me looking, I would look up the following:

Larson Management (Heard great things about this company, like every owner op gets a daily email list of all loads dispatched, so you know whos hauling what, and theres no favortism etc)

Dow Trucking (Another good outfit from what I've heard)

Sundown Oilfield in Wainwright, good guys, open door, good management etc

Silverman oilfield (heard mixed reviews, I know they've expanded tenfold in the past few years, and since they've gotten bigger they've gotten better, I think they realized the days of being a bit crooked are over?)

Crudemaster out of Lloydminster aka CMT trucking, I think a good outfit, I know lots of their owners run very nice iron, and their trailers are newer, so I think they do well.

Thats all I can think of off the top of my head.
