Anyone Install a Fuel Cooler?

In front of radiator would be good, but not too optimal with my Detroit s60 pre-egr. The return line is coming out of the back of the engine,and that would make an extra long run for return lines to the front and then back to tanks. Gotta find the place to mount the cooler around transmission. But less air circulation there. A fan would help, I suppose, maybe thermostat controlled. Saw few of them for sale that turn on the fan at 180 degrees. Is that the right temp for a diesel cooling? Any thoughts?

 

I put mine in front of the rad. Had to run 25 feet of extra return line. Had no problems today. First day I ran it. Also fuel starts to asphalteane at 140 degrees. So you want to keep it cooler than that.

 

I had the same exact problem for a veryyy long time , to the point I stopped going South with the truck ......just nasty dereg and constant check engine , after reading this tread decided to do something about it - I chose the cooler with fan so I can use it even if the truck idles , without movement , but still can cool the fuel , ......no thermostat in the lines , if truck engine works - cooler fan works as well , in the winter gonna just remove the fuse and gonna stop the fan from blowing ! Amazing result with my Derale Hyper-Cool Cooler 15960 , $ 200 from Amazon , 4 hours installation , significant fuel temp decrease just by touching the return lines to and from the cooler , truck is much more peppy and powerfull , you can see my video here , thank you for all the advice guys , hope I can help you as well !
