Okay let me state that I do not have specific knowledge of CRST. With that being said, I do not understand why exactly you picked CRST. Is it their cost of training? Are they the only ones that you think offer training? Or have you been turned down by other companies and this is the only deal that is available to you? What are your options?
.
You can get training through a community college or other companies. And you will not have to team with another person to drive at most other companies. I guess what I am asking is what attracts you to CRST?
Anyone know anything about CRST?

I went to the school in Alabama, American truck driving acadamy, it is a Joke, the trucks are junk and stay broke down and there isnt enough to go around and the trainers dont have time to spend on each student so you pretty much have to do it yourself, the town of Opelika wont even let them bring there trucks in the town anymore...Good luck

I went to American Truck Driving Academy in Opelika, Al. Was not a joke, It was a good school and I received quality training. We did have a lot grown men and women that acted like babies there always complaining about one thing or another instead of just training. The trainers stayed after hours with me several times to make sure I was ready for my test. Unlike the school CRST uses in Iowa you have to earn your CDL in Alabama through a state test not a third party tester who is there just to make sure you pass.

I learn to drive from CRST in1999 I went thru a sponsored school after a crap trainer and 30 days of being used as a log book did not go back, paid on my student load 18 months and then went back and did a year Aug2001 -Aug 2002 went everywhere but North Dakota and Florida, learned how to drive any weather condition and traffic condition out there and got a start to what is a 700,000 plus perfect safety record, don't be a trainer I tried that ,if you go there you have 5 days and then they run you like a experienced team,OTR driving is the hardest thing I have done since Ranger School in 1973,most companies are basically the same just a different color truck/or team or solo the difference is your relationship with your dispatcher, most if you do your job and are on time they will go to you with good loads,if you spend your time in the buffet line or the game room instead, you will have alot more time because you will be waiting on a load they know you can handle,I would start out again with CRST if I had to start over that is my opinion and you know what they say about opinions

Thanks Steve, your post seems most fair and not someone just complaining.

wow i was thinking about going there just to get my foot in the door and after my contract we will see how much i am making then.
any input on my decision please reply and even tell me some good and bad of the company i know all has bad and good -
you will drive usually till two am cst the first 2 weeks than they push you past that. ifyou have always been a 9-5 it ill be hard to adjust. its not the easiest to get enough sleep during training. some can some cant. i decided it wasnt for me due to safety issues.
the trainers do what they can to stress you at least the 2 i had -
If you do CRST, least go with there flatbed division. I have heard decent things about the flatbeds plus they are not all teams.
I would avoid there dry vans though but thats just cause I hate teaming. -
