So what happened? Did you get hired and if so what city? I am a Greyhound driver out of Detroit. I am pretty sure you only need 3 years driving any type of vehicle. Also, newbies do not own on having a regular run for some years, you will be on the extra board.
Right now I think most cities are starting a little over $20 and topping off at about $25. Good luck.
Anyone know anything about greyhound

I drove Greyhound for 5 years. 1995 - 2000 , during the summer you get lots of hotties from Europe who travel Greyhound. You also get strippers going from city to city.
Lots of hot female soldiers and female marines. Greyhound does a ton of military moves, taking marines and soldiers from one base to another for maneuvers. -
They say only "####### and criminals ride Greyhound". There've been many times when I stopped at a bus station only to be greeted by cops or probation officers snatching a wanted criminal off my bus.Last edited by a moderator: Mar 22, 2016

When I drove Greyhounds you needed no experience. They trained you for free. Training was really good. I guess they stopped that in the past 16 yrs.. Big mistake if they did stop training.

I've been out of the "pound" for 16 years but have to assume they still have an "Extra Board". If so, the guys with the least seniority don't have scheduled runs. They are constantly on stand by and work more than the regular run drivers ... except in the winter when you may starve.
When I was there, Greyhound hired 700 drivers and trained them in the spring (every spring). They'd be busier than heck in the summer, then in the fall about 600 of the new drivers would quit... not enough work and too stressful to be dealing with the passengers.
There was 1 driver who was tired of the passengers arguing on his bus, so he just pulled over on the interstate, grabbed his bags, put his thumb up and the first truck going by picked him up. He never came back to Greyhound. -
That must have changed. There used to be a forum for Greyhound drivers. Really interesting to read. They would detail all the problems with Greyhound and all the wild events such as hijackings, crashes, etc.. Check and see if you can find it before applying so you can see what you're getting into.
Also call: 1-888- RoadKil. That's the union recorded message on the latest contract negotiations and other union matters. -
JB Hunt Drivers are perceived as losers.

That's another problem with Greyhound. You get sick ppl from all over the world with bizarre dieases that American Doctors can't diagnose. Every once in a while you'll wonder .... what happened to Martinez. "Oh Martinez is in the hospital isolation unit with some weird disease he got from a guy from afrrica, the doctors say that if he doesn't die this week, there's a chance he may be well enough that a kidney transplant will keep him alive"
