You are correct. But I was curious about employee positions. As an owner operator you still have fixed expenses that must be covered each month. As an employee you don’t have any costs and just work when you want to.
Anyone know of.........

Yes it would definitely be a slip seating arrangement. They can’t have an asset just sitting around for days or weeks on end waiting for some driver to show up. That’s what I remember about being at one of those driver staffing agencies back in the 90s. It was kind of strange every other day I was in a different truck.Last edited: Jan 3, 2020
Long FLD Thanks this. -
In that case good luck. I have a serious doubt you will find such a job. A carrier who has a truck sitting has equipment that is costing them money, those wheels must roll! I know of no such positions in any sector of this industry either. Might be some in a few in very limited places, but you won't get such a job. I can not stress this hard enough. A fully permitted and licensed truck has fixed costs on them. Ask someone like @REO6205 or @Ridgeline how much these fixed costs are. Those trucks roll or you lose money. You want to drive in a more laissez faire situation become an OO.

One more point. Even in a "slip seat" situation, you are going to be held to some form of a schedule. This means you are sharing driving duties. At some point, you MUST roll.
