I agree. I don't think they ever threw anything away either. That lot has always looked like a junk yard with a few servicable trucks in it. I used to go bu there on my way to the skyline restaurant.

    Oldironfan Thanks this.

Those were the good ole days of trucking. I had a brand new 10 speed manual short throw COE international when I was employed at CRST. She had double bunk and flat floors, I had it made then no crawling over the dog house to get in the crib.

    Oldironfan Thanks this.

If COE's had been still in use today they would be a lot different.
Development would have continued leading to a very comforteble ride. (Like the EU COE's)

I'm seeing listings for $45 k for cabovers. Get some of those, build it, and you could make some money.

    Oldironfan and Grubby Thank this.

This is why I don't like this site. I would of never known about this auction except for this thread.

I figured I could get a pre 2000 truck super cheap and rebuild it for the current asking prices of trucks that I know nothing about.

I wanted one of the 1994 w900 with the aerodyne 1 sleeper. But this 1998 with a Detroit s60 had a lot more parts on it. Plus a factory remain engine under the hood. I believe the last year the truck was on the road was 2009 because of the permit book that came with the truck. I have put a lot of money into this truck but it turned out pretty good, the truck looks good and drives great. I've only driven it a week but I have gotten a bunch of complements already.

The short list: New front hubs, New kingpins, New tie rod ends, New cab airbags, Eight New suspension airbags, Upgrade ag200 suspension to ag400, New shocks, New brakes and drums all the way around, New brake hoses, New virgin tires, Two new aluminum rims, Rebuilt the fifth wheel, New fifth wheel slide cylinder, New batteries, Paint frame, Paint fenders, New air intake cleaners, New grill, New bumper, New exhaust from elbows up, New radio, Any interior pieces missing or broken replaced, Drained and changed all fluid. Used engine ecm (truck was missing it), New turbo(missing), New ac condenser(missing), New timing sensor and engine position sensor, New block heater, New coolant hoses.
There is defiantly a bunch more small stuff.
