This will give Best Buy and Fry's some competition as RadioShack has almost disappeared
rabbiporkchop and Oldironfan Thank this. -
The knowledge of electronics and stereos of there
Employees was unmatched.
They knew their ####
Problem was they figured out how to steal from
The company without getting caught.
Late eighties early nineties while in the military in
Charleston s.c.
We all went to circuit city for everything electronic.
The salesman would sell you a 1000 dollar car stereo
System for 2 to 3 hundred bucks cash.
That's installed, no reciept,no questions asked.
Just pull the car around back and they took care of everything.
Some how they just stole it from the store and sold it
For cash and manipulated the inventory.
We done this for a couple of years before they finally
Busted a coulple of the guys.
We're talking hundreds of thousands of dollars here.
Word was out go to circuit city for everything if you
Had cash.
Don't know how many other stores this went on at,
But a couple years later they went belly up.rabbiporkchop and mjd4277 Thank this. -
Much different experience in Saginaw, MI. We didn’t go to Circuit City because the salespeople worked on commission and they price gouged for everything. We always went to Best Buy where the price was the price.ZVar Thanks this.

Bought my first cellphone at CC.
It was a brick phone btw. LOL. -
I remember when local circuit city was going out of business. 60% off but it was marked up 120% first.
rabbiporkchop and lilillill Thank this. -
Sounds like some marketing firm bought the name and is only using it to try out their weird on-line shopping thing. Nothing different than the 1,000's of other on line retailers.
Also, I didn't like them as they were always more expensive and the pushy, commissioned "salesperson" who was never any more knowledgeable than reading the box. -
When they first went under, it was a good place to hide a truck while you walked around front to the Applebee's, Logan's, IHOP, etc.
Back up to the dock and let the police think your on the demolition crew.
(Okay, so it didn't work for tankers) -
Kinda like truckstops selling things on a clearance table for half off a 300% markup.mjd4277 Thanks this.
