Trying to do maths (not my strong suit) but curious what fuel mileage is looking like, my w9 got hit head on last week and trying to get some options narrowed down so I can get back to my normally scheduled trucking once insurance figures out WTF they are doing.

also lead time if I decide to order one, found a few that are close to what I want but I’m a picky MF and might order if I can swing a couple extra weeks

    Thanks

Friend of mine got one a couple months ago. Says its getting around 7ish at 80k with the 475 isx (x-15 to be clear but my brain goes ISX because reasons) It has had the electric dash #### the bed 3 times already though. Said it got towed the 3rd time. But thats 2nd hand what he is saying so take it with some salt.

will the truck not run if the dash ####s out?

even when I’m in the Midwest 6.2 is about what I can squeak out, 7 with a hood has me intrigued, fuel won’t break me but if I can save some I definately won’t complain about it, the VT hills are what usually kill me though

No clue its not my truck lol. From what i understand they had his truck like 3 weeks replaveing the dash harness though. As for hills grab some 3.55ish gears and a 1850 torque motor and that thing will walk up a hill happily even with a fuel sipper. Thats pretty universal in most trucks is hills all come down to ratio over engine size for 80% of it. Id say pop a 500 horser in there hooked up to an 18 with 3.55s and youed have a good all rounder. Throw some tall 22.5s or some lowpro 24.5s on and youed have a good rig.

Rush has a bunch of the 589’s in stock. Talked to my salesman and they are having a very hard time moving OTR trucks, says the only thing keeping them afloat is sales of vocational trucks.

Wouldn’t expect one to do any better than a 389 imo.

The digital dash is garbage. Sure, mine doesn’t freeze up anymore since they did a software update but it’ll still go dark now and then for a minute until it figures out if it’s dark or light outside. Other than that it and along with the entire dash is just too bright for me at night. Dash switches with led back lighting way too bright for me.

Pride in crap Peterbilt lacks any form of quality control. If you buy one make sure to get an extra case of door window switches and wiper control levers. Better yet try getting an extended warranty on the chassis, one year is definitely not enough.

One other thing, the smart wheel is a pos and very expensive to replace. I got a bad cruise control button on my 2023 and you have to replace the entire wheel. Right now you can’t even get one because they’re back ordered into oblivion. There’s a roller wheel on it too that’ll drive you insane. Gorilla glue it once you get your dash display the way you want it otherwise you’ll be hitting that sucker all the time and changing the display.

The navigation/stereo/etc screen sux also. Way too bright at night. Get one without it if you can.

Too many hills around here to use cruise control anyway.
actually one of the ones they have is the identical color my my w9 and a left over 2024 so that may be the one I reach out on, the adjuster is coming Monday to appraise my truck

Has the radio not the in dash nav, which I definately don’t want, I’ll move my garmin over with the dash cam

If you do a lot of climbing get the 3:55 axle ratio. They also have a program with Spicer where the dealership can swap it out for whatever ratio you want. Has to be done before it’s titled and you’ll have to pay shop labor only.

I got the Cummins 565hp, 18sp , 24.5 lo pros with the 3:55 and it climbs like a mountain goat at 80k. Only thing I don’t like is I can’t run 90mph like my 21 with 3:34’s??. Pretty much 75mph puts me just over 1,700 rpm’s. Was thinking to turn it up to 78 mph but I’m afraid that I’d just be damaging the engine.
