Yeah I understand, but was thinking there may be some situations where 100 miles per day was normal. @High Stepper , do you guys have runs that have lots of stops but not many miles?
What I can't figure out is why, both with cars and trucks, they haven't designed them so that the batteries can easily be swapped. You would then just pull into a recharge facility, slide the spent one out and a fully charged on back in. Probably to do with safety issues I suppose. Battery technology is probably the next big hurdle, and probably not far away.
Anyone rolling in a 589 yet?

As i understand it , to fast charge an EV isnt that much more inexpensive when miles per fillup are calculated. Also from what ive gleaned its 120k per charge station , in commiefornia anyhow.Oxbow Thanks this.

I still think Edison Motors in Canuckistan have the most viable alternative to big HP diesels.

I agree. They are competitive on the price of an EV too. And the new traditional cab design is a good looking truck.wore out, IH9300SBA, High Stepper and 1 other person Thank this.

We have some routes that are under 100 miles a day. I think one issue for us is charge time since a lot of these trucks get used day and night with only a few hours or less windows to charge.
Plus I do 300+ miles a day, yesterday was 16 stops so I would have to charge somewhere on route which is impractical especially with early closing times at these businesses.MACK E-6, IH9300SBA, ElmerFudpucker and 1 other person Thank this. -
The Flyin' J here in town has a big fancy CNG or LNG refueling station on the north end of their lot and I've never seen it in operation in 12 years. I think the electric fad will pass just like alternative fuels and be relegated to small, niche markets like Yard Spotters or shuttle trucks.wore out, ElmerFudpucker, High Stepper and 1 other person Thank this.
