Yes, the fuel prices 4 years ago were relevant to my post because I was giving the reasons why I decided that a sleeper wasn't worth having on the truck I was going to buy at the time I was in the market to buy a truck.
And I still do make money staying in motel rooms when I go on the road....just spent 2 nights on the road last week. When you total up all of the expenses you incur when you idle the truck all night at a truck stop, plus add the value you place on the "comfort and convenience" factors available in a motel room that are unavailable in a typical truck sleeper, it is cheaper to stay in a motel than it is to idle a truck all night.
Anyone run a day cab?

2 nights in a hotel room last week is not OTR.
"comfort and convenience" dont mean jack sh&t! If it did then every trucking company out there would make sure they got their drivers home every night.
Again, you can make $ with a day cab but not if you are OTR paying for hotel rooms every night. 2 nights last week is not OTR, I am talking about the guys who stay out on the road for weeks at a time, or even a week at a time, time and time again. -
Who the H*** want's to run OTR?
-
Me and a lot of other people, theres nothing wrong with OTR.
