Fuel & Mileage Calculator | Michelin Truck
Found this calculator while trying to decide what tires to buy. According to this calculator there is a HUGE difference in price. Basically going from what I have now to Bridgestone m713 will save me the cost of 8 tires in one year. What I think is a little funny is just how bad the Michelin tires are at rolling resistance or fuel efficiency. Xdn2 is almost $5k more a year than the m713 Bridgestones to run.
Depending on price I might go with energy d or m713. Anyway thought y’all would enjoy this calculator as much as I did.
Anyone seen this Michelin calculator?

POTENTIAL FUEL AND TIRE ANNUAL COST SAVINGS

If i stay on duals
Yeah, ill pass (in case youre wondering, negative savings means itll cost me MORE to run their proposed best tire) -
Yup and it also doesnt account fkr stuff like tire damage and ware. For me recaps make more sense then new just because dump truck. Even being careful i have rocks ruin at least one tire a month.

Aren’t the 713s the ones that get stuck on a banana peel though?

but they look way cooler though

I don't believe these calculators have much to do with reality.
I ve been using Double Coins on drives and my mpg is the same as it always been. They wear down at the same rate as other brands - so far...at least from my own observations.
I use Michelines on the steering axle but that's for durability and a good smoother feel not for mpg.Last edited: Oct 29, 2022

I 100000% believe in rolling resistance and fuel mileage in tires. You learn this very quickly as a kid on a bicycle.

They are OK in a laboratory settings. In practice, It takes on bolt to f...up that tire and you can kiss goodbye to whatever fuel savings that tire generated with all that extra price you paid for it.RJM1953 Thanks this.

More to do with inflating to proper psi than anything else.RJM1953 Thanks this.

Money is not even an issue.
I'd love to pay even $8,000 for 8 drives, if given guarantee that would save me at least $2 000 in fuel savings per year.
I'd love to glue 1000 air tabs on my rig if given guarantee that the would save at least $1000 per year.
Somehow, I don't believe these things.
