I'll have to check that out. I just ordered a 256 gig sd card because I filled up my 64g on my LG V40 thinQ. I was thinking about the 5g pixel also

As long as the towers have a backup generator.
I was home when Hurricane Michael, a cat 5 hit Panama City Florida back in October 2018. Had no cell phone or any other phone service for weeks and no power for a month.
The sad thing was watching all the young people walking around in a daze holding their cell phone up in the air trying to get a signal!!
I thought some were going to commit suicide!SteveScott Thanks this. -
That's not what he said. He said "when the power goes out we can still make and receive calls." He means when his power goes out, not the power at the cell tower. But most towers have backup generators so the loss of signal is only for a few seconds.
But your landline is hung on poles which are vulnerable to being knocked down. For Hurricane Beta last year that hit my house, everyone with a land line was SOL because trees had fallen on everything. But cell phones worked fine because the towers had backup generators. -
I somehow read the title as saying "flip COIN"...
I thought "I flip a coin in bed every morning to decide wether or not to get out of bed... But the coin always lands on the floor where I need to get up to see it."

Here in California we have rolling black outs during fire season because of high temps and wind in the fall. As of last year, many cell towers still didn't have backup generators, so a lot of people didn't have cell reception during the black outs. They've been adding generators like crazy over the last couple years, but not all of them are covered yet. Our land lines aren't on poles, they're buried, so not much chance of one of them getting taken out. Just about everything is buried out here in towns and cities. Haven't noticed a phone or power pole in my town in many years.

even my landline works when the power goes out. Verizon installed a battery back up with my FiOS system.

Yea, California is pretty much a ***ked up state.JoeyJunk Thanks this.

Land lines have always worked when the power fails. The phone companies provided their own power source to operate the phone system.Numb Thanks this.

I haven’t had a land line in ten years.
Just because a cell tower has a generator means nothing when the tower is destroyed. -
Nothing is stopping them from staying up for their entire 36 doing coke and then hoping behind the wheel with a fresh 70. Laws nor ELDs make choices...people do.
