You also have to remember they gave everything back to Dallas so on the whole your statement while true is misleading.. Dallas will screw up this dispatch system.. As long as Todd has his hands on the people it will be bad..BTW this isn't unusually slow.. It has been unusually busy for the last 8 months.. Terrell a with an avg of 80 loads a day in unusual. I know guys that haven't signed the force dispatch thing that have got 2 phone calls in the last 2 weeks.. I am just giving this guy an honest look at what greatwide is.. Landstar would be alot better option at this current time. The reason I say that is the same reason you say greatwide is good in the other thread.. He was talking about hometime he has been gone... If you want to make money you can't be home all the time..
Like you said you have to take the best load offered.. but now we aren't offered anything we are told that hey ####### this is your load so if you get a 2 stop Dallas you got a 2 stop Dallas if you get a Laredo McAllen you got that.. You know how the system works. I am not gonna give a guy that ask the glass is half full version being an o/o I want the glass is half empty version because in trucking that version is more accurate in most cases.
Anyone work for GreatWide?

I completely agree with you, I think we are just looking at it from two different angles.
Landstar is a good option for those that can hack it over there, and don't need the hometime. I'd go there if I could get away with it ... heh.
As for Dallas starting the dispatch up, it sucks. Todd should have left it as it was. But we'll see. Even now that the new contract has been finalized, things are gonna change again. Let's see what it's like after the new year, then perhaps we'll all be running for cover -
GW is advertising for company drivers on craigslist in Daytona Beach. Anyone know anything about a new contract? The ad says work hard and stay out a few days at a time. Sounds like food service. Anyone got anything? Florida...

Yes. CSA rating has gone to hell since I started with them (Dallas-Mavis) in Nov. 2011. I was in Tulsa, OK trying to get a load out when I found out. I called about 3 different loads off the board and had everything set up until they asked for my MCC#. Then they refused to give me the load. Almost everyone had put us on the inactive list. I finally found a load that had 250 deadhead miles on it and had to take it just to get out of there and get home to Little Rock, AR.
Now I am in Commerce City, CO where they have decided to terminate my lease and have left me stranded with no money and no fuel. They were also supposed to have been holding out money all this time for my Form 2290 Heavy Highway Use Taxes. They failed to do that and now want it from me. Meanwhile, the tag they gave me has expired and cannot be renewed without the taxes being paid. At this point I am not even sure I can get a temporary tag to get home with. I am in the middle of hiring on (leasing on) with a local company. And have pretty much tapped out family trying to help me with food etc. It has been going down to around freezing at night and snowed the 2nd night I was here. Not sure how this is going to turn out but they still owe me pay for 6 loads right now. I started out doing Intermodal with one of their agents out of West Memphis, AR. I actually take the time to check every single chasis and container I hook to. I got chewed out constantly because they said it was taking me too long to drop and hook equipment. The rail yards all have "roadability" staff to fix anything you find wrong if it is reasonably simple to fix, like lights, tires, etc. But then when you do use them Greatwide ####### about it.
Just a warning.....tell your families to never ride behind or next to those rail containers. The majority of the equipment I saw was not well maintained and old. I won't even ride next to them now.
I actually had one that started coming off of the chasis with me. We put the plastic tie downs on the latches to hopefully restrict the movement so they cannot come unlatched. This one broke through the ties and was sliding off the chasis. Thank you to Halls, TN public works department for sliding it back on for me with some of their heavy equipment!! -

The company drivers at this The Wal Mart locations make decent money from what I am told.. But they work 14 hours a day 5 days a week and their days off are monday and tuesday.. So weekends are a must work day and they won't work with you.. At least at my location they won't.. I guess it is a pretty good gig all and all.. Steady work decent money.. You are just a hired monkey that does what he is told but that is any driving job now days
