I have been trying to decide between Millis training and going to a local school. So far I have realized that if I went to a 'school', they have the training & testing all right there at there place. It takes around 10 weeks, but at least you leave there with a CDL. (Unless you just completely fail ofcourse). However the cost is around $6,000.00

At Millis the cost is MUCH lower, the training is MUCH faster (3 weeks) then do your time with the driver trainer. (I belive she said 5-8 weeks).
My problem with this is, your driver trainer is the one that takes you for your test.
What if you fail? Will they let you re-test, or give you the boot?

A private school will continue working with you until you pass. ( I doubt I'll have that kind of problem, MAYBE need to retake it once - I would hope not more than that).

If they give you the boot, you're stuck owing them $2000 or $2500 or however much, and nothing to show for it.

Anyone have any input regarding this?

    Thanks.

If you can't pass the final road test after 5 - 8 weeks with a trainer, most companies usually send you with a trainer again for a couple weeks. You should be able to pass after 5 - 8 weeks though.

My hubby's trainer told him he'd have to go to the terminal for his final road test, but actually did his road test (which is the way they had it set up at Werner) once he had completed his training hours. It was actually a pretty slick way of doing that, as hubby didn't know he was actually being road tested, so didn't have time to get nervous!

blufreeze when your trainer takes you to get your license it usually is in the first 4 or 5 weeks that way if you dont pass it you still have time to take it again if needed

Thanks guys, I appreciate the info.

I'm just terrified of making the wrong choice since I have a family. If I was still single I'd just wing it.

    Thanks again.

I think Millis limits it to 1500 watts, they have to be installed by shop.
