Im in a deadend job currently working at a bowling alley.
i have recently sent in an application with Millis last saturday to go to their school. i have been hearing good things about it. I talked with fay on monday morning. She is very nice lady and called because needed a couple extra pieces of info from me. i asked her how long would it would take for them to verify my employment history. She told me 2 to 3 days. I called yesterday wednesday to check the satus of my application, she informed me she verified my 2 of my 3 previous employers and that one didnt get back to her.
So I called the previous employer to see what was up, they told me they do not provide employment verifications over the phone except for the work number employer verification service. So i got theat inof called her back. She tells me that they do not use the work number since it costs money to get the verification report. She asked me if i had a paystub from them, which i dont have as all their paystubs were submitted online. So I tried to get a copy of the employment verification from the work number and they will not sell an employment verifcation report for me to me. So I called the employer back and they basically told me im screwed.
I called fay back and explained the situation and was up front with her and she was very pleasant through it all. She made a few notes on my application forwarded it to the recruiting coordinator Jazz and I should be receiving info in the mail next week on wether i am approved for their since they are off on thursday and friday for thanksgiving.
I have not had a ticket in over 5 years and have had 1 accident in the last 5. So Im hoping I will be getting approved.
So now Im waiting patiently for the end of this week and the start of next week. If i am approved, I probabaly gonna try to start the beginning of next year.
So far Applying at Millis has been a pleasant experience. Good followup and pleasant people. I hope to get the chance to go to school with them and work for them.
The one question I forgot to ask is would I go to Ohio, Gerogia or Wisconsin for training, I am in MD. If anyone could advise it would be great

BigPapa,
I am also approved to go to Millis for training in the near future. They seem to be a pretty good company to work for based on the information that I have been able to find. Not many negatives which I would hope is a good thing and mostly positives. Not many Millis drivers appear to post on this site? I am also looking at several other companies for company training and will be starting school in early February 2008. Maybe will will see each other! Best of luck with your career decision.

how long did it take for you to get approved? also did they tell you which location you go to since ur in ct? do u have to pay the 500 when you pick your class date or when u get to class? do they provide transportation to class or do you have to provide your own?
-
bigpapa, you should be able to go to which ever school is closest to you, I would guess OH. You need to provide your own transport to and from school, on a daily basis while in training Millis will provide transport to and from school to motel.

you pay the 100 down for the training, then at the first day of class you pay the other 400
-
when they send you a prehire letter do they just send you a letter or do they send you a whole packet wiht everything you need to know. also do you pay the 500 total by cash check or money order or credit card?
-
They will send you a package for school, you should bring cash or a money order.
