if the recruiting department didn't tell you or explain things well enough, you pay your $100 deposit, bring $400 to the first day of class, then you have $20 taken out of your pay until the full $2000 is payed off. Then you also have to sign a contract that says you have to stay for one year, and if not, then you have to pay the balance of the $2000 and an additional $2500 for "training"

So how long do you have to stay with the company to pay for the whole training? They take $20. a week till you pay the $2000. and then you can leave? It sounds like a good company to work for so I'd probably stay anyway. Or is there something bad about this company? Is anyone been to Richfield classes lately? I start on Jan. 14th, can't wait to get started. Any drivers out there that have been with this company and tell me anything about them? :biggrin_25511:

I was accepted into the 12/3/07 class in Hamilton, OH. Class started on 12/3 and ended on 12/4 when Mike Millis canceled the class. His reason for doing so was total BS. He's changed his story once since then, will probably change it again. He did refund my $500 (after 10 days), but I won't get back the money I spent on gas for the wasted 1,500 mile roundtrip, the 2 nights I paid for a hotel out of my pocket during the trip, the meals, supplies, DMV testing and learner's permit, the 4 days of pay I lost, etc. For all the details, go to the Millis Recruiting forum at Trucker's Road.

Mike Millis is a lying POS. Run away.

yeah i am keeping an eye on jan and feb classes also. there was a post on truckers road that one of the other guys was told a class was cancelled because they were short on trainers. I see that as good a reason to cancel a class I dont agree totally with the manner it was cancelled but if im paying 2500 and working under a contract for a year and im not gonna get whats advertised then its best for the both parties.

Despite what happened to that one class i still feel Millis is a honest ufront and good operation.

im still excited for february to go to class in georgia. It should be fun, and i cant wait to drive a big rig and see more of the country other than boring ol baltimore.

No, I didn't lie on my app. And the post about the class being canceled because of too few trainers wasn't a different class. It was the one I was in. That was the SECOND answer we got. Three people have gotten responses from Mike Millis about why he canceled that class, and each answer has been totally different. There's new info in the Trucker's Road post.

Guys, Mike Millis is a lying sack of ####. He screwed us and won't even tell us why, and he just might decide to do it to you, too. I know you're excited about the company and they had a great reputation and all, but please think about what they did to us and consider going somewhere else. I've read a lot of negative comments about Schneider and Werner and Swift, etc., but I've never heard of them doing something like this.

By the way, my theory, which is shared by a former Millis driver who still has contacts inside the company, is that Bill Smith, the trainer, gave us the wrong contracts to sign. Millis recently changed the MTI contract. It used to be that, if you left Millis before the year was up you had to pay back the $2000. Now, if you leave before the year is up you have to pay the $2000 PLUS another $2500. My guess is that we were given the old contracts and Mike Millis, rather than stand up to it and ask us if we'd be willing to tear them up and sign the right one (and I would have--I knew that was the deal anyway) decided that he'd just get rid of us.

But we don't know. No one knows but Mike Millis and Bill Smith. Mike Millis is making up ######## answers left and right, and Bill Smith isn't saying anything.

Oh, and if you look back through the archives in the Trucker's Road Millis Recruiting forum you'll find a post from someone who showed up at the school after they had changed the contract. The recruiter he dealt with never told him or the other students about the new contract. His class didn't find out about it until it was put in front of them to sign. Classic bait and switch. So this isn't the first time Mike Millis had screwed a class.
