For me, obesity is a way of life. Sleep apnea my arse. I will eat my gluten paste and smoke a carton of "USA gold" cigarettes while driving in the center lane all day. The fat stomach resting on my lap really keeps my legs warm in these cold autumn months. It's kind of like when Han Solo cuts the tan tan open in Empire Strikes Back and uses the fat to keep luke sky walker warm. I wouldn't change it for the world.

Resistance bands are good, you don't need a lot of space to use them and they're kinda helpful to build some muscle and strength. If you want you could also find a bar somewhere and do pull-ups, chin-ups etc.. and buy a 5$ rope and jump rope for cardio, it burns calories like hell.

I am not on the road yet (Just got CDL, wrapping up things at home before I go OTR) though I have already purchased a Citizen folding bike (they are reasonable, this is the one I bought http://www.citizenbike.com/catalog.asp?product_category_id=1&product_id=24 )

and a TRX Suspension trainer (https://www.trxtraining.com/products/trx-pro) since it is so compact and flexible.

I plan on riding the bike whenever I can and on 34's to go to the store, entertainment etc. The TRX will be used more on 10's (hooked to the truck somewhere) to eliminate stress and stay fit.

I considered buying a bunch of resistance bands and/or adjustable dumbbells but personally found the TRX to be more effective. Check out youtube videos of both. There are a lot of guys that have bikes in trucks.

The April 2014 issue of Men's Health had a great article on staying fit while trucking featuring Prime Inc. Drivers. Good article. I could post pictures of it if you cannot find it online. PM me or let me know in this thread.

    Be safe and stay fit!

I'd like to carry a bike. Getting to the age where I need to get serious about losing the extra 35-40 lbs I've been whining about and promising to lose for the last 15 years. Does anyone know of a website or app that lists and maybe maps what towns have bike trails?

A Kettleball, two Dumbells, an EZ Curl Bar with a coupla 25 Lb. plates and a foam exercise mat and you got a full scale gym.
Might be a good idea to keep a roll of painters plastic handy; you can spread it out on the asphalt and lay your foam mat on this.
Otherwise, your mat will smell like the floor in an adult movie theater from all the urine deposited by our trucker brethren.

True, it is excessive, but it flushes toxins out and works for me.

I see a lot of drivers working out on the road. Those 128 oz soda curls are industry standard.

They don't realize their drinking the same calories as a baconator or ultimate double cheese burger. Then they wonder why they gain weight.

Not to mention the crap that is in soda/diet soda... The only thing humans should be drinking is water. As far as how much, Dog-c is right on and don't worry about having to pee all the time. You will have to pee all the time at first and than once you body gets hydrated and flushed, you will have to pee every 3 hrs or so. You will learn how to go pee every 3 hrs. Lot of good information on this thread, and I checked it our for myself. I am an old gym rat and just love free weights but, hard to come by our here so, I too am looking for a new way of doing what I love.
