Dont do it man, you WILL regret it. I can absolutely guarantee you will NOT be happy driving for Western, hell even Swift is better than them. One of my biggest issues with the company is they will FORCE you to run over-gross, keeping in mind that if one of the 3-5 scales you will drive by with these loads is open, its YOUR ###. Every single Poland Springs load Western hauls puts you over-gross, they know about this, but have an "oh well" mindset. I personally will be reporting them to ME, MA, CT, NH, NY, and PA DOT (the states that have scales you will drive by with the over-weight loads).

Also, they make you sign a paper agreeing to pay a $1000 fine to the company if you abandon their truck, but if you instead try to do the right thing and turn the truck in at a terminal they will charge you MORE! Upon notifying Western that I am turning my truck in to the terminal, I received a Qualcomm msg with a PO Auth and a Driver Chargeback for $24,900! Oh, and not to mention that they have messed up all but 1 of my paychecks.

Moral of the story... Stay the hell away from Western.

I find $24900 tough to believe. And their reason? Did you take a pic of that and file with the labor board in your state?

BTW if you are over weight you are captain of the ship. Go back to the shipper and have them pull the extra off. Or refuse on the Qualcom to haul an over weight load.

Yea, not sure what the 24900 is all about, wondering if they are trying to charge me for the load i refused (refused one of the water loads). Going to ask my DM about it before I head to the terminal tomorrow to turn in my truck. As for a picture of the qualcomm message, I'm going to take one today when I go to the truck to double check all my stuff is out, as I saw it when I was in a hurry and didnt take the time originally. Once I do I'll post the picture here if you'd like.

Also, I agree with your "captain of the ship" argument, thats why I said in my post "its YOUR ###". I was stressing to anyone who reads this the same point your making, glad to see you agree.

This wasn't a reference to USX it was in reference to Western Express. Threats on the Qcom too.

I see WE trucks all over and also TONS of adds on Craigslist, which shows that their recruiters are going nuts trying to persuade anybody to apply. So, as I read their adds I can see that the offer is too good to be true. Reading all these infos you guys post in here, I feel like "run away and don't look back" from them. I don't understand why such a big Truck Company don't give a crap about their BEST asset which are the DRIVERS. Happy employee is the BEST asset for any business, they will be more productive, they will take care of the company's property, the company will have more faithful workers and so forth so on. - Overloaded IT IS NOT A GOOD IDEA... you will be the one responsible for that at the scale, NO MATTER what is your excuse!!

I agree run away I did!!! I'll explain below.

Went there in the begging of november did the orientation and "load securement" class the only thing I can say i took away from that class was coils I've never touched a coil before. Road tested though everything was ok got my truck friday but it needed to be fixed windshield and the chain rack was tearing from the truck. I filed the paper work and even sent the message over the qualcomm that the truck would be down till Monday.

So I go on and try to enjoy my weekend in that hell hole of a hotel. Mom asked me what the hotel was like and I flat out told her I wouldn't bring my dead dog here!!!!!!!! So late sunday the phone rings I didn't answer the fist 2 times till they left me a message. They wanted me to take the truck which I had placed out of service and take a load up to hagerstown MD. I told the guy the truck was OOS and he got all pissed off and hung the hell up. I still have the voice mail from them and all the pics of the ripped up truck.

So Monday rolls around I go see my recruiter ask her what I was getting paid. She pulls up my file tell me than says but you failed the road test but I was given a truck anyway for some strange reason. Trucks now fixed at this point. So I go see whatever messed up thumbs name was he pulls it up and I failed cause I had swerved off into the ditch. Now the 2 other guys that where in the truck had my back and said I never went into the ditch. If I had gone into the ditch as claimed I don't think they would have let me finish the road test. They gave me the choice retest pass keep the truck fail go home or trainer for 2 weeks. I wanted to road test again and get it over with. After the 2 mutton heads talked for awhile they have this great idea I'm going to back class. I also ask for the other person to road test with and got told NO.

Tuesday, I'm in backing class all #### day long. I backed into the same home some many times I started hitting cones for fun. Late in the after noon after I had passed backing ( oh and the guy doing the backing class said I'm not even sure why you are here you are putting them right in the hole) they started yelling at me for being there all day. Than as I leave I notice the truck was in the service lane go back in and talk to them here they pulled me from the truck and didn't even tell me and where about to box all of my stuff up. Never to to road test again like I was told.

Wednesday, I got tired of all this crap over the last week and a half and said to hell with this I'm going home. Call them and tell them. Hours later the recruiter calls me back saying they want to give me a truck AGAIN and send me out with out taking another road test!!!! They wanted to have a meeting with me her and one of the bosses as to why I was going home. By this point I was already at the airport about to check my bag to head home so I said tell your boss thank you but no thanks. I kept it respectful cause she was just doing her job. She kept saying come back come back and I just said I have a plane ticket I'm flying home.

I have YET to see any pay from this place. I know the above is a long read but its a word of caution. I spent 9 month running 48' spread axles in philly DE MD and NJso I know how they are and a few over sided loads, lots of construction equipment and all sort of building panels as well as several concrete pumps. I'm not trying to sound like a Billy big rigger here but I can handle my equipment.

Oh and a HUGE turn off was I kept hearing them saying we will take it out of your over and over and over again, I don't like hearing that.

And questions fell free to ask I'll answer them. All of the above evens took place between 11-4-13 and 11-13-13
This is the kinda of stuff I drove around Philly DE MD and NJ this was the smaller one. The bigger one had an over hang past the cab. This truck is 73,000+
