I'm always open to suggestions, but it all comes in how you start the conversation. I have even a few times point out that the tie down may not work and then point out why.
Was in a hurry one time years ago. Guy walks up and says that's not gonna work boy. I bowed up and said why. He repiled. Step back and look. Ok I did.
Yep not gonna work. Had all my chains pulling in the same direction. Opps
But just the way he said Boy, caused me to bow up at first. I did thank him later though

Starting off with the diminutive isn't ever a good opener for "let me show you something"
    Boy
    Youngster
    Punk
    Little lady
    Etc

Yea years ago in Az. I'm tarping a ld of alum pieces. Pain in the butt, with the padding and not easy to walk on.
There was a Werner flatbed next yo me tarping, but I was busy doing my tarps. I get done and was walking around checking things. I then noticed he had the back tarp over lapping the front one.
Now it's hot and sunny out.
I walk over and politely said, young man looks nice but it's not gonna work out to good. He's like huh. Then I explain how the wind will catch the second tarp and give him issues. Seems it was his first 2 tarp ld. I offered to help him and explained more. We ended up pulling both tarps as he had no padding either.
Something not explained to him during his brief training. He was very thankful for the advice and help

You sir are a good man! See now theres are a guy I wouldn't mind helping. He's new with tarping and didn't know much. The guy tying knots in cargo straps is just a plain idiot and doesn't deserve help imo...

Ar first I was trying to make sure I worded it right. Younger guy, dressed with some what work clothes, but leaning towards gangster style.. dreadlocks. But after talking with him a bit, he seemed nice and asking questions more about flatbed work

Don't remember the name, written on cardboard and clear taped to truck, his own numbers. A Freightliner with different color parts.

I said he delivered it, don't know if it was damage free.

I had to go back to "Old Man's" original photo to be sure, and I still ain't.
I would need 4 short - or the hook ends of one long chain, on both
sides, with 4 load binders. Have to go over the x braces front and back
on the far side, hooks facing in, and on the near side same thing,
over the x braces on front and rear legs. I would keep all binders 90 degrees
to the truck to tension everything and so they can't slide and loosen up.

Again, don't crucify me, but even straps over those boxes is only on tin,
(w/no edge protection, to boot) and only bolted to the angle iron.

Yes; I use straps and chains on unwieldy stuff I do almost weekly.
Guy says on the phone, I got a 20 ' container, if you can get it, you can have it.
Of course, he was just being a smart arse.
I was there at 7:00 am when they arrived - and gone in an hour.

Well, they sure wouldn't do a motorcyclist much good. Very little pisses me off more, than to see some idiot loosing part of his load on the highway. Ladders, wheelbarrow or two, all kinds of building materials. And none of this from the pro truck drivers, but rather the local idiot contractors.
We've had fatals here because of it. Specifically the wheel barrow somebody swerved to miss.....

That term Boy. Boy has that changed since I was a boy. Back when I was a boy, it was quite common for an adult to call a boy a boy. Regardless of race, or anything else. I still here people of my generation doing it, without ever thinking about it. Just like they might say "Hey Mack!"
I wish people would not get their little feelings hurt so easily. People have died just for calling the wrong person "boy...."
If it is used in an offensive manner, then a person has every right to get pissed about it. But not in just everyday conversation. I detest this PC crap.
