Well.. you didnt even give the 148 a chance lol. Your anytone sounds good tho..
The 148's sound nice after changing out some of the tx caps. Not sure how wide they can go without major surgery, or direct injection..but since they dont have the big x-former as a bottle neck like a 29, they should be able to go as wide as a standard galaxy style export... the boards are very similar.

Which model 148 ya have? Maybe you should have mark widen it up a bit just to compare..

Here is the Anytone at-6666 with the Heil PR 781 plugged directly into the radio without any rack gear or equalizer.
Naturally your results will vary depending on your technicians skill or lack thereof. It's all about the Tune !

@rabbiporkchop I just ordered a AT-6666 with a 6 to 4 pin adapter to use my SR-198 mic with it. My question is does the 6666 have talkback so you can get an idea where to set the echo and get an idea of what the audio is sounding like?

Yes it does. It's the NOG setting. The Palomar SL41 is the best Mic for a stock tune. How it sounds through the talkback will be different than how it sounds over the air.

I never bought one of the palomar mics, so the 198 will have to do unless it sounds like ### then I'll stick to the stock mic I guess. It's going in my Jeep rubicon so it will mainly be used on trail rides and long drives.

With drastic modifications to the radio, the stock Mic sounds awesome.
