Okay. I wouldn't go less than 13.8 volts. Especially since this radio draws more amps than a CB radio. I should say non-modified CB radio. Something still doesn't seem right since it only has a squeal on channel 19. Did you get this radio from Mr. Sherman?
No it was tom in the big truck(955),customer of hard drive but has sence passed from covid...Scott/rabbi porkchop in his personal on his at6666
The squeal turned out to be on all channels. This radio has never been opened up by anybody except me when I looked at the finals a couple days ago. If I get time this weekend I might test actual voltages with a meter just out of curiosity, and maybe turn the power supply voltage down to see if I can make it happen again.
Oh okay. That would make more sense if it's on all channels. Ya, low voltage (or current) can make a radio do some strange things.
Are you sure 19 is still set to 27.185? Mine got switched accidentally and I had a hell of a time trying to figure out why the SWR was through the roof only on 19.
And just so you know, whatever frequency is displayed before you switch it back to channel mode, gets assigned to that particular channel.
Yep I'm on the right freq. I wish I'd had all my info right b4 starting this thread but hey I'm not perfect lol Love this radio, thinking about getting another one
Ok Thanks! I hate it the guy Tom passed due to Covid. Hate it for him and his family. Cool our very own rabi porkchop was in on that video. 74 miles mobile to mobile is a long ways.
Timin770 do you get a good bit of activity on a base setup? I have mine running now and I can here some dude on lower side band ch 38 talking in Miami beach Fla. Regular cb channels are all dead except some folks on channel 28. I haven't heard the local group on channel 13 in several days now.
I had the Stryker 655 hooked up as base a couple days ago and I swear to God I heard something on just about every channel. A lot of them were big radios in distant states. Not sure if any of them were reachable by me. I have an Antron A99 antenna about 30' up. Nothing fancy. I hear a local group on channel 13 in or near Concord, NC sometimes when I'm in that area at night.
There has been a few days lately where everytbing was busy, ormal am and side band.. I find alot of the eastern usa and jamaica, cuba area commin in fairly strong up here in novascotia..Thats a 2000 mi skip....
