That says it all right there! And Lumberman, how many virus programs have you tried, or even used in the past THREE years? And how many times have you looked at your Mac and said, "what the f--k!"?

And how many days have you been "dead in the water", because your Mac went tits up? Coke and beer spillage not included!

    The #### things just work!

If you saw the Mac stuff I have, your head would spin. AppleTV's, PowerMac's, Mini, MacBook's and an Air, AirPorts, TimeCaps, Streaming Music, Streaming HD TV, God I could go on! And I could teach a chimp how to work it all!

And don't you just LOVE that iPhone! Best #### phone I have ever owned! It actually works as advertised! Imagine that?

    Mike

And to you non Mac users... I know I sound like an arrogant, LOOK AT ME! I use a Mac ARSEhole! Not true, and I think LumberMan will back me up on that. Hell, I know he will, so never mind.

    Just had to be said.

Sorry, but your wrong.....................I have BS in Computer Science from Penn State. I was hacking computer back in the early 80's, started with a C64, and in high school I learned to hack into the IBM system 34 and 36 main frames. I have forgot more about hacking than most people know.

I have played with OS-X for a while, had a machine for 3 years. It still comes down to money, no money in hacking OS-X. There is no bullet proof system, period. The best way to help keep your system safe is to keep it off the net. Off the net only leaves people that have access to the system has possible hackers.

Keeping a windows machine clean is just common sense. Most people don't understand or want to take the time to keep a PC clean. I have not had any type of infect in over 10 years.

Look, there is nothing wrong with OS-X. Just don't put blind faith in any OS. If apple redesigns the mini I will be getting one to play with.

I messed with LittleSnitch for a bit but found it more annoying than anything else so I deleted it.

If you turn my username into a url and click on the link it will take you to my MobileMe/.Mac page. From there click on "Ramblings" and you can find my 4 Mac Mini articles. I hid the Mini, two hard drives, a router, VOIP box and cable modem in the desk. There were no heat issues even before adding the cooling setup. All you saw from the outside was a monitor, iPod dock, keyboard, mouse and mouse charger.

I gave the Mini and 1rst Gen iPod Nano to my girlfriend when I got my MacBook Pro. I think you'd have to have a gun to get it away from her, they are her first Apple products.

My father just ordered his first apple, a 17" MacBook Pro from the refurb store. I now get to type up an email for him suggesting what apps to run and such. Should be fun was to see what I actually use on my laptop.

I hacked my iPhone to run on the T-Mobile network because the AT&T network has some seriously big coverage holes. Life would be much more difficult without it. It even comes with a nice 'Anti-Phone Salesman' feature. When they start their pitch just pull it out and show it to them, they shut up and you don't have to say a word! Works great in truck stops and malls :biggrin_25525:

Overall, I find that I can do more things, and do them easier, than when I was running XP. And isn't that what really matters?

Edit: I have also setup an old B&W PowerMac G3 with a Sonnet-Tech G4 Upgrade for a buddy of mine. He uses it to record his music with GarageBand. It may be a little slow but it works without a hickup.

You are right, I don't want to spend any time doing that, I want to just use the computer. I don't want to waste any time doing maintenance on a computer. Other than repairing permissions on occasion I haven't had to do any maintenance in 3 years.

I live a Microsoft-Free life and enjoy every minute of it :biggrin_25520:

So hack away! Here I am............ See, that is my point, not much you can do?

Keep a Windows box clean? I ain't got one, so what do I do now? I use a little Windex with the Vinegar mix to clean my Mac. Real easy, takes all of 30 seconds.

This MacBook I am typing on, I close the lid every night. The only time it restarts is when there is a software update. Rebuild this or that, not here!

I lift the lid, and it works.

I am in the truck, I throw it in the back and hope and pray I don't step on it!

That is my biggest concern with the Mac... That I don't step on it! Not a virus, but stepping on it! What a HOOT!

And it runs every program I need, I can even run Windows if I have to, MS office, no problem. I really can't think why I would even need a windows box. I don't game, so why put up with the headaches?

All of the degrees in the world are great, but what is better? How about a tool that just works?

    Mike

And no offense intended. To each his own. But why let others suffer when there is a much better way?
