Oh boy. What's Apple up to now? Some kind of monitoring and intrusion technology they can have better control of?
Apple plans to replace Intel chips in Macs with its own
To be fair, I don't trust Intel any more than I trust Apple or AMD or any other technology producer. But I do like the way Macs run on Intel CPU's and I'm more than a little skeptical of this whole idea.

I have been using Macs since the stock was $7 a share. I doubt they will screw things up. Typing on a new MacBook Air right now, sweet little machine. My MacBook Pro is over 10 years old, now just use it for diagnostics for the Cummins, it runs Windows.
laaylor Thanks this. -
I ran PC's for decades but got turned onto Macbook Pros about 7 years ago and won't use anything else now. Hard to beat. Bullet proof, and ready immediately after raising the lid, unlike most Windows/PC laptops that take forever to do whatever they do when awakening.laaylor, Dan.S, Aamcotrans and 1 other person Thank this.

Exactly. You pay a bit of a premium up front, not much, but come on, how many dell laptops are there that are 10 years old +, and still operating out there? And when I say still operating, all of the latest software works too? I don't know of any.Dan.S and Aamcotrans Thank this.

Me too! I’m an Apple girl all the way!

Apple/Mac had traditionally ran their own hardware so it's just a return to their roots. I'd suspect it's due to losing their dominance in the creative market when they switched to PC architecture and basically stopped caring about these power users. Wouldn't be surprised to learn that bad publicity from Meltdown & Spectre played a part in the decision as well.laaylor Thanks this.
