Apply for FAST card.

Wrong...FAST Card can be used in lieu of passport for crossing the border by land. I just went to Detroit, MI, didn't have a passport, just gave him a card.

Hmm, when I went in for my interview they were very specific about not using the FAST card when not in the truck. Haven't tried it as ID in my car.

I always use it when crossing in the truck though. It's rare that I can use the fast lane, but even then I seem to get asked less questions than when I just had a passport.

It can't hurt to have it anyway. I got a reload ahead of another one of our drivers recently because FAST card was required by the shipper.
