When ever you R That Close to home
The next time that happens as soon as you find your self having to take your 10 hr brake after unloading.Lock up the truck in a safe Area & Get a ride from home at least you get a few hrs or until NumbNut Dispatch calls you back. -
Wait till you're under a load that goes within 75 miles of the house and you can't stop, after being out for 6 weeks ! Or, you're home for a couple days and dispatch tells you to head for town "A" to get a load which is 100 miles away, and once you're there, they tell you they will load you in the morning ! (you could have stayed home another night)

i do it once a week ill dead head 100-200 miles home every weekend then deadhead 100-200 miles back out Monday morning. I own my truck so i don't have to ask permission. however sometimes there are instances where i might sit for a day in the truck not far from home. happened to me this week, it just didn't make sense $$ wise to dh home in the middle of the week even though i was going to be sitting a day and was only about 180 miles from the house.
and there are times i leave the house the night before if i have a early load time ill leave after supper drive to close to where i have to be in the morning. sleep in the truck then get up in the morning close by for my load time. i do this for several reasons, one have more available hours for the day 2. not getting up at 2am and starting my day and getting up at 5 am instead. if i were to run into any kind of delays on my travel out from the house it wont make me late for my load time.
