You cut a frozen lock off? What? You didn't try heating it up? I'm from Michigan, it gets just as cold as canada here, and I've dealt with lots of frozen locks....
And besides that, wasn't there a high security seal on that load, being international freight and all? What good is a padlock on a load with a high security seal?
Generally any time you go to a company, as a company driver, if they require you to have something like this, they arent going to require you to have it before you get to orientation. Don't sweat it next time.

Yep theres no reason to cut off a frozen lock. Just buy a little propane torch and it does the trick on the locks SNI sells you. Also carry a can of silicon lube spray, this will keep the lock in good shape plus repel some of the water and road grime.
-
Been thinking of going with SNI and when I asked how much for king pin lock........$60 .
-
Ditto on the silicon spray. As to a torch, just use your Zippo with jet fuel in it!
-
The one you're issued is well worth that $60. You won't find a better one. That thing must weigh at least 5lbs, if not more. They're $60 now? I paid $40 for mine a little over a 1 1/2 years ago. You can turn it in and get a refund if you quit, but I kept mine, just in case, ya know.

I'm saving up high value seals and king pin locks and I'm going to lock the nicest empty in charlotte up whenever I quit. Come back in a year and see if it's still there.
