Well finally replaced the 'ol D700A with the new D710 and am back up on APRS. Just curious if any one has any experience with using this radio and Echolink. I've have used echolink from the computer side but not from the repeater side and this radio is capable.
On the road K7TKR-14 and 146.520MHz

I never have gotten into APRS. Do you run two 2 meter rigs, one on 144.390 for APRS and one for rag chewing, or do you have some way of polling the APRS freq every so often for updates? I've got exactly zero experience with digital modes, except for watching the PSK31 station for awhile at Field Day last year.

No to both. I am using TM D710A from Kenwood. Basically a dual bander with a built in TNC and APRS software. I can run aprs continuesly on the A band and voice on the B band. As a matter of fact, the radio encodes into the beacon packet my voice frequency so others can make contact while the aprs side is doing it's thing.

Cool. That's what I want when I grow up. Well, as soon as I stop wearing the aluminum foil helmet, when I stop worrying about da gummint knowing where I am.
