    Great post Cowpie!

My only other advice to any of ya is to buy the best genset you can afford.
I've bought cheap chinese sets and ended up having to replace them with something better anyway. It's just not worth the hassle.

One thing I told Martin is that any rv rooftop a/c (that I know of) requires a standard 14x14" square hole in the roof. This is exactly the same hole you would need for a crank-up vent. This means that if ya sold the truck, you could take the a/c off, and put a $30.00 vent in its place.

    Cowpie1 Thanks this.

I emailed that same company (US Carburetion), took them @4days to reply to my questions though.....Not cool.
I would be concerned about the lower ratings though. A decent heater plus a block heater, and the 12v dc at the same time......You get the idea.
One thing, does the 12v dc output at say 10 amps, lower the amperage of the ac generator too? Or are the two totally separate?

Wow, I dont know what impressed me more in this post...
Maybe it's you vast "0-1yr" experience level?
Maybe it is the whopping 15 posts you have got thus far.
Maybe it's just that Durty Jursey attitude that I hear folks talk about, popping out to say hello?
And maybe, just maybe, it's the FACT that you have absolutely no idea of what the heck all us grown up owner operators are talking about.
Bud, you haven't made enough money to buy an alternator for a Tripac, so why not keep your opinions to yourself, because you sure do look smarter when you do.

I am going to ignore captian pete and just chalk it up to a co driver flaming a post.... guys have great info and this really helped a lot, the deliema for me now is if the 3,000 honda is going to be enough wattage, I just want to get one unit and hope it last a while....I had a conversation with a sales rep at my local Tractor Supply about a champion she basically told me it was junk if you wanted to use it on a consistant basis and "if I could afford a Honda thats what I would get"... So like I said im just putting everything together I will probably use the chasis grabber and also a vented box by Haynes equip so I have gotten wonderful ideas from you country hick piece together walmart aisle 5 guys

I kinda like bein a "country hick" if that means I am self-sufficient, save ALOT of money, and take alot of pride in the things I create.
Just buying something (a tripac for example) when I can accomplish the same thing for thousands of dollars less myself doesn't make sence to me. If ya can't do anything for yourself, then I guess ya need to spend alota money for someone else to do it for ya.

    "Mickey-Mouse", "Country-Hick"????

    Betcherass!

JT, I can tell ya that 3000 watts is absolutely enough if all ya want to run is normal household appliances. (a/c, m/wave, cube heater, toaster-oven, etc.) A cube heater for example is 1500watts wide open, and a typical m/wave uses 1000. That's 2500 if both were running at the same time!
The stand-alone 12000 btu a/c I use is "inverter-based" and only requires 1700 watts to start. Runs on about 950. I even ran this on an eu-2000-i for awhile.
If ya stay in the 2500-3000 watt range you will have all the power ya need and get about 12 hours runtime from 2 gal.of gas.

Cowpie wants to run a block heater (1500 watts) & all this other stuff he mentioned. Yea, he needs more than 3kw but a 5 kw set would do for him. Figure out what ya want to run, add up the watts, and buy a set that will do it. Remember yer not gonna run everything all at the same time!

Is that a free standing ac unit two lane, or rooftop mounted?

Can also make an educated guess that the company that CP drives for (Trans AM) has Tripacs. Thus he knows no better.
Kind of sad when you just finish training and all of a sudden know everything huh?:biggrin_2556:
CP, I would bet that the guys you are attempting to insult each have @20yrs driving experience, and own their own trucks. I know I certainly do.
So your lame post is really just making yourself, and all the other pups that come out of Trans Am's puppy farm, quite ignorant IMHO. Maybe some humility will be dealt to you when you first screw up, it will happen at some point believe me.

Martin, it's the one I refered to at www.compactappliance.com It's actually shown on the home page. Gray & kinda looks like R2D2. Free standing.
It's a"heat-pump" and must have the hot air vented to the outside. Comes with everything needed for this. I'll get the pn; and post it here.

    Edit; pn: AP-12000S (Edgestar extreme)
