leftlane, with the deal dynasys has wouldnt that be a better choice than 5k for a unit with 10,000 hours?
and no money upfront or you can pay for it, still get the grant -
The Carrier unit is $2k, not 5!
Rooftop ac is @$750 delivered.
So, by the time I add some odds n ends, maybe $3k for exactly what I want.
Martin -
leftlane, yep you had the 10k hours for 3 grand total and jt had the of 5k for the 6600 hour unit.
and like i said 6700 for a brand new unit with full 2 year 4000 hour warranty -
In my simple way of looking at things, $3k is bank money, $6-9k is loan money and thus interest needs to be included.
By your own figures, $400 x 24months = $9600. Add to that the $800 buyout, and that bargain is actually costing you $10,400 out the door, regardless of what grants you got.
It works for you, and that is great. It does not work for me however, as all my stuff is paid for, and I like it that way.
MartinSHC Thanks this. -
And that interest rate is truly scary IMHO. You did run the numbers beforehand didnt you???
Total cost $10,400. Purchase price $6,700 (Your figures). Interest payed $3,700 for a 2 year deal.
Looking at it that way....I will have my total setup for less than the interest alone that you are paying. And that leaves me @$7-800 left over for any needed maintenance etc.

I called ooida today no more grants available and like leftlane my problem is not cash it is the desire to spemd said cash $10,000 over 3 years is still $10,000, I think the cas price they quoted me was $7,200 because of a shore power 20% discount....dynasys is off the table for me....lifeforce went out of business....I just need to decide on a genset
-
the 10,400 includes the buyout, but when i figured to lease payment is 100 per cent deductable over the two years, and i am saving 1200 a month. thats 10,400 dollars will have increased my profit by 19,200 dollars.
and that doesnt even figure in the tax benefit.
listen i beat this over the head for a while before i went this route, and when i finally did with a new unit i should have done it way sooner.
i just didnt want the problems of a used unit. i am allowed to do the maintenance on this unit myself and not void the warranty, just have to keep records and receipts where filters and such were purchased.
and as far as lifeforce they were having there unit built by generac, a 3600 watt lp generac can be had for 2100 bucks. a gas for about 1800 the rv enclosed pack type -
Like I said, glad it works for you.
For me though, all my stuff is totally paid for mate, and I really do like it that way. No way I could justify a $10k genset myself. I have all the tools and know how to do it myself, and have always thought that the money they want for a truck APU is totally outrageous. No way that a motor and the heat/ac system costs anywhere near the prices they get. I honestly wont buy one out of principal.
Tax wise, I will get the total amount back without issue, as well as other stuff a 2006 Freightshaker needs on a monthly basis
And imagine the savings when the setup costs @$3k instead of $10k!
Glad it works for you, just not my cup of tea is all.

Well, I got kinda occupied building this for our boys...
And I dragged my backside ordering the ac unit. Only one that anywhere local has is the Coleman Mach3, which is a 13,500BTU unit. On sale in St Louis for under $600 with heat strip.
Found the Carrier APU unit from the guy in Springfield,Mo for $1900. Only problem is, there is absolutely no guarantee with the unit, and I have read some bad reports of stuff happening to the APU within a short timespan. No news like bad news, but still it makes me a little apprehensive.
I found the EU3000 for $1899 delivered, or $1999 locally. I think that is the way I will go for now, and then see how it works out. If I came across a killer deal on a diesel APU unit, the EU3000 will always make a very good home unit.
Will see how time works for me the rest of this week.
