leftlane, i know of 3 guys that are running the eu3000, it works great for them with rooftop units such as your are looking at.
take a look at northern tool for the generac rv units.
and i know 2 guys who are using a remote start champion unit from northern tool that sells for 479.00 at rates at 4500 watts. not as quiet as a honda , but still quiet. it has a wireless remote to start and stop from inside the truck
we have several others using the pull start champions and they are holding up well a

Thanks Skateboard.
I am really in a state of confusion....lol
I think the noise of anything like 70db would be plain annoying to me, as well as others around me. This the Honda Eu series, which I think are the quietest around, as well as having a 12amp 12vdc output for battery charging on the rig. They are also packaged very compactly compared to other generators around.
My ultimate goal would be a 2 cylinder 1800rpm liquid cooled diesel, with my own generator head and alternator on it. I could package it the way I wanted, and it would have all the benefits of an APU without any of the potential pitfalls (poor design, cheap components, high price, etc).
Now I just need to nite the #### bullet and get at least an ac unit....
Twolane, any experience of the Mach3 AC units mate????

When I was at the Honda dealer a Landstar O/O was there buying the EU3000 because his diesel gen crapped out. He had a 15k rooftop unit and it powered it and the microwave, fridge, everything at once. The dealer let him try it out first to see if it was big enough and he was surprised it powered everything. I've always heard that Honda under rated thier gens and it might be true.

I am thinking that the EU3000 is going to be the way I go, along with an aux gas tank that may resemble a DEF tank...

Hi, everyone! I apologize if this is a wrong thread to ask, but I'm new here and couldn't find anything more relevant.
I have a big problem with an a/c on my truck, probably will have to replace the whole system, which is very expensive, I'm thinking to use portable a/c instead. Can anyone please advice, what maximum btu (or watts) a/c I can use, if I have 2500 watts inverter, and 135 amps alternator? Also I have small refrigerator and a laptop. -
Look a few pages back, and Twolane posted a link to a portable ac unit he uses with great success.

headache rack yes mate. I pull an RGN.
Nop catwalk really, just a piece of 2x6 on the rails. Not a lot of room there neither!
I figured on removing the steps on the passenger side for sure, with the driver side a possibility.
Only other option is to lose either a 150gallon tank in favor of a 120 gallon tank, or trim a tool box down. Both tool boxes are completely full, so........
