these guys have helped a lot with the post and diagrams, although it would seem an aluminum exteranl tank would be best, what about a propane generator any rules for those?

Im not trying to argue with anyone, lol. I just thought Id tell ya about the gas generator I put on my truck. I got a champion 4000/4500 watt from tractor supply last year($299.00). Its sort of like a Honda clone(quiet and runs about 14 hours on a tank of gas). I mounted it neatly on my catwalk and have a piece of rubber covering the the top, front and rear while the sides are exposed and the hole cut out so I can fill it with out uncovering it. I got a metal heater from walmart that was about 20.00$, it looks like a older style but they still make them. I made a shelf that takes all of about 3 minutes to set up in my passenger window. I had a portable a/c that vented out the window but the vent hose gave off too much heat so I went with the window deal. The new a/cs arent veery heavy so its very easy to set in the shelf I made. I have a 2001 fld so I just took out the small cabinet behind the passenger seat and have a small plastic dresser that sits there and leaves enough room to set the a/c out of the way. Sometimes I just set it on the passenger seat but its safer in the back. I just wanted to put my little 2 cents in. lol.... The champion generator is an excellent buy. They do have it with the remote starter at costco nowfor a few more bucks. Im not gonna change up unless something happens to mine. Its very easy to change the oil on also. I had a name brand generator (troy bilt) that was 4000 watts and wouldnt run an a/c. The champion is a heck of a buy and starts on first pull even in 10 degree weather........By the way Ive got a big condo and went from GE brand 5000btu to a GE 6300btu a/c and fits like a glove as far as the width on the freightliner window., but the 6300btu cools the truck real nice...
